How to Avoid Fake tokidoki Bags on eBay
When shopping for tokidoki for LeSportsac bags on eBay, use this guide to empower yourself to avoid the fakes! (Note: this guide does not yet include tokidoki for Hello Kitty bags or European tokidoki bags because these items have not been faked yet.)
List of signs that a seller is probably selling fake tokidoki for LeSportsac items:
1. If the bag does not have the “qee” toy(spring 2006-summer 2007) or tokidoki Adios keychain(fall 2007 onwards) attached to it on a keyring with a chain, proceed with caution. All tokidoki bags (including wallets and acessories) come with a qee/tokidoki keychain - except for Braccialettos. Those who make fake tokidoki bags are not good at reproducing realistic versions of the tokidoki qee, so some fake bags don’t include one or try to hide it in their auction photos. Also note: a real NWT (new with tags) tokidoki bag will usually come with the qee wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper with black writing printed on it - but fake bags never include this printed plastic wrapper. If the bag is new, but the qee isn’t wrapped in plastic, proceed with caution. Sometimes the wrapper does come off by accident on real bags, but just keep this warning in mind.
2. The bag has a first season tokidoki print with a qee from the later seasons attached, or the attached qee looks fake. The first season tokidoki print bags came with either a blue Meomi cat qee or a pink Dalek qee with a “5″ on its chest attached. First season tokidoki print bags did NOT come with the white qees with the flower face, except for the tokidoki Black bags. (To make things a bit more confusing, the 2007 re-release of the first season or “original print” bags did come with white tokidoki qees.) Check out a comparison of a real qee versus a fake qee.
Real First Season Meomi Qee:

Real First Season Dalek Qee:

Real tokdioki Qee - Comes with Spring 2006 “tokidoki black” print and bags from the Summer 2006 through the Summer 2007 collection:

Real tokdioki Adios keychain - Comes with bags from the Fall 2006 and Winter 2006 collections, and with Foresta and Paradiso re-release bags:

Fake tokidoki qee:

Another fake tokidoki qee:

Another fake tokidoki qee:

And still another fake tokidoki qee - any bag that comes with this tokidoki qee, which is missing the red star on the front of its left arm, is FAKE:

3. The bag does not have the decorative chain on it that all tokidoki bags (including wallets and acessories) come with.
Examples of fake tokidoki bags that are missing the decorative chain and have a little skinny fake chain in its place:

4. The zippers on the outside of the bag are made of plastic and/or are not multi-colored. On real Tokidoki bags, all of the zippers on the outside of the bag are made of metal, and are multi-colored (rainbow colors in a random pattern)*. Also on real Tokidoki bags, the inside zippers are plastic in a color that matches the inside lining, with a generic standard zipper pull that matches the hardware color. Some fake Tokidoki bags have a zipper pull on the inside that says Lesportsac on it - real Tokidoki bags never do!
*Note: One exception to this rule is the Scuola backpack style bag - SOME seasons of the Scuola do not have rainbow zippers. Original print (first season tokidoki print) Scuolas have white zippers, second season Playground Scuolas have tan zippers, second season Playground Cammo Black Scuolas have black zippers, and second season Playground Cammo Olive Scuolas have olive zippers. Third season Scuolas and onwards have rainbow zippers.
Example of a fake Tokidoki bag that does not have rainbow zippers:

5. If the bag/wallet/accessory does not have round zipper pulls with tokidoki characters engraved on the front of them, or other hardware in the same color with tokidoki characters engraved on them, it is fake. Note that the color of the hardware on real bags changes depending on which season and print the bag is. First season bags had green hardware (plus blue hardware rings attached to the strap), and subsequent seasons have silver or gold hardware. The color of the decorative chain on the bag always matches the hardware color as well.
UPDATE: To make things a little more confusing, a batch of “second generation” original print (first season tokidoki print) bags were released a year after the first season bags were originally produced. The second generation original print bags were an exclusive to the Seattle LeSportsac outlet store. The second generation bags have silver hardware and chains instead of green and blue, and they come with regular tokidoki qees instead of Meomi or Dalek. The second generation bags were produced in the following styles: Stellina, Bambino, Bambinone, Canguro, and Luna. They were also produced in 3 styles that were NOT available in the original run of the first season tokidoki print: Portatelefono, Bocce, and Gioco. When in doubt IDing an original print tokidoki bag, see #25 on this list.
Example of a fake tokidoki bag that does not have the correct color hardware - note that the hardware is all silver when it should be green & blue (it is also the wrong shape, the zippers are too short, and it is missing the qee and decorative chain):

Example of another fake tokidoki bag that does not have the correct color hardware - once again the hardware is all silver when it should be green & blue (it also has the wrong qee attached, and is missing the decorative chain):
Example of another fake tokidoki bag that does not have the correct color hardware - once again the hardware is all silver when it should be green & blue (the qee is also missing the red star on its left arm, and the decorative ball chain is too skinny):

Example of a fake tokidoki bag that does not have the correct engraving on the zipper pull - it should be a picture of a tokidoki character, not the word LeSportsac (the keyring that the qee is attached to is also a giveaway that this bag is fake):

Example of a fake tokidoki bag that has the wrong color and wrong size chain (Pirata bags should have gold chains that are a thicker weight than is pictured below):

6. The bag’s strap does not have the name LeSportsac repeating on it. Real bags have the LeSportsac logo repeating across the length of the strap, and the logo imprinted into the strap. Some fake bags have this too, but the font will look wrong and too small, so examine the straps closely!
7. Something about the pattern or the colors on the bag look off to you (trust your instincts).
Example of a fake tokidoki bag where the colors are off (it is also the wrong shape - this supposedly a Buon Viaggio but isn’t even close, the hardware is wrong, and the qee is fake):

Example of another fake tokidoki bag where the colors are off (it is also missing the decorative chain and has fake tags and a fake qee):
8. The auction does not specify the bag’s name and style number - sellers with real items will be able to provide you with this information, so that you can look the style up on my Tokidoki Bag Archive to make sure that the style really exists and looks like it is supposed to. If you have never seen a tokidoki bag in the style you see on ebay and can’t match it to any of the styles on my Tokidoki Bag Archive or the LeSportac website, it is fake! Fake bags are also sometimes sold as a “set” of two bags, even though no tokidoki bags are officially sold as sets. Fake tokidoki bags also sometimes come in bag styles that were never available in some prints.
Fake bag “set” example:

Another fake bag “set” example:

Example of a fake tokidoki bag where the bag style was never made in the print shown - there is no such thing as a Playground Cammo Olive Zucca (the size of the print on this bag is also WAY too large and the color is off, it comes with a fake qee on a skinny chain, is missing the decorative gold chain… I could go on and about how super-fake this bag is):

Example of a fake tokidoki bag where the bag style was never made in ANY print - there is no such thing as a tokidoki weekender (this bag is also missing the qee & ball chain, doesn’t have rainbow zippers or the correct hardware on the zipper pull, doesn’t have the right color trim for the Spiaggia print, etc.):

9. The bag is listed as new but does not have LeSportsac tags attached.
10. The seller is located in Thailand, which is where most of the fake tokidoki bags seem to be coming from. A seller location in Thailand is not a guarantee that the bag is fake, but should be a sign to proceed with extra caution.
11. The price is too good to be true. You are not going to find a real tokidoki bag for a BIN of $30 on eBay. EVER.
12. The bag has an inside tag that says “Carefully Made in the USA.” Real tokidoki bags are made in China!
Example of a fake inside tag:

13. If the tags attached don’t match what the bag looks like, it’s fake!
Example of outer tags that don’t match the bag - the tag says “Leopard Print Showcase, ” but is attached to a (fake!) Cammo Olive dolce style bag:

14. For Cammo Olive print bags, if the trim is dark olive with lighter green LeSportsac logos across it, it is fake. On real Cammo Olive bags, the trim is the opposite - light olive trim with dark olive LeSportsac logos.
Trim on a fake Cammo Olive bag:

Trim on a real Cammo Olive bag:

15. For Playground print bags, if the trim is brown with tan LeSportsac logos across it, it is fake. On real Playground print bags, the trim is the opposite - light tan trim with dark tan LeSportsac logos.
16. The bag says Flower’ Spring on it instead of tokidoki for LeSportsac where the logo should be in the bag design, AND it has a white tokidoki qee that is missing the red star that should be on its left arm (check the photo of the real white tokidoki qee above in item #2!) . Fakes have also been spotted that say Prosport instead of tokidoki for LeSportsac where the logo should be in the bag design. Note that sellers may try to hide the Flower’ Spring words and fake qees on their fake bags - if it is hard to see what is going on in an auction photos, ask for better/more close-up photos. Also beware if a bag looks like it has been folded over oddly in places to hide it’s fakeness giveaways.
Examples of some fake bags that say “Flower’ Spring” and have qees that are missing the red star on their left arms (these bags are also missing the decorative chains, and have fake skinny little chains instead):

17. Check the seller’s other items before bidding. If they have other bags for sale that you recognize as fake, then you can be 99.9% sure that all of their tokidoki bags are fake. A seller with real items would not damage their credibility by mixing in fakes.
18. If the seller has zero feedback (especially if they also have an account that was created within in the past 30 days), you should proceed with extreme caution before bidding. Chances are that the seller keeps changing their ebay user ID to hide negative feedback they received from others who bought fakes from them previously.
19. The seller’s auctions include “tokidoki” in quotes in the title line of the auction as a subtle clue that they are selling knock-offs.
20. There are new fakes coming out of Australia. Be careful if the seller only accepts Direct Debit (Westpac), as they do not offer the buyer the same level of protection that Paypal offers buyers. Exercise a similar level of caution with any seller who doesn’t take Paypal - Paypal offers the most buyer protection in case of fraud.
21. If the bag has the wrong print inside, it is fake. Check my Tokidoki Bag Archive for which colors/prints should be inside which bags.
Example of a fake tokidoki bag with the wrong print inside - the inside of an Arancia (orange) bag should be Foresta:

22. If the bag is a Campeggio and the front pockets end above the bottom seam of the bag, it is fake. Real Campeggio front pockets end at the bottom of the bag, not an inch or two above it.
Example of a fake tokidoki Campeggio bag with the wrong size front pockets (this bag also has a fake qee on a fake chain, is missing the decorative chain, and is showing an example of a fake Foresta print where the colors are way off):
23. The bag is badly misshapen and/or the size of the print is way too large on the bag.
Example of a fake tokidoki bag side-by-side with a real tokidoki bag to show how the bag shape and the location of the zipper on the fake bag are wrong, and the size of the print is not to proper scale on the fake:

24. The inside “tokidoki for LeSportsac” black tag is not sewn in with metallic thread. Fake bags have inside tags sewn in with plain black thread, but the tags on real bags are sewn in with metallic thread.

25. And finally, if still in doubt - ask to see a photo of the underside of one of the zipper heads on a rainbow zipper on the bag - if the bag is real, it will have the brand name “riri” + M6 stamped into the underside of each rainbow zipper head.
UPDATE on Jan. 23, 2008: Fakes are getting more realistic! Please be sure to read this new tutorial on how to spot a convincing fake tokidoki bag.
Please also take note that currently, ALL tokidoki bags on ioffer.com are fake.
If you have anything to add to this guide, leave a comment or e-mail tokidokiblog@gmail.com.

Hi!! Caught your blogfrom tPF link on your siggy. Anyway, great post about the fakes. I wanted to add some other minor things
Re: #4, I have noticed on all my bags that only the OUTSIDE zippers are multicolor teeth w/the round metal pulls, the INSIDE ones are always plastic zippers that match the inside lining, with a generic standard zipper pull that matches the hardware color.
Also regarding hardware, the rivets are always stamped w/stellina, and only on the outside. And the hardware changes w/different prints, for ex the hardware is multicolor on the first season, and brushed silver on the citta prints, and a bronze color on my pirata.
February 7th, 2007 at 5:37 pm
Those are great additions, thanks! I will add your info into the post so that people don’t miss it.
Let me know if you think of anything else!
February 22nd, 2007 at 2:21 am
this may help and this may not~
but some of the fake bags you can tell they are fake because the print that is on the bag is either 1. not out or 2. from the past or 3. mislabelled..
for example this purse
is labelled as paradiso - but its actually the original print
also you can tell its fake because the original print did not come in that style
and using one of ur points~ the qee looked funny >
February 22nd, 2007 at 9:14 pm
The qee in the auction link you posted is also attached to a different bag - I see black cammo rather than original print in the qee photo!
February 27th, 2007 at 6:35 pm
In response to the printing of words. I spotted a fake in an Orange County boutique (of all places!) for $28 (yeah, right!). The words were imprinted in the wrong color along the edging of the zipper. On the fabric, instead of “tokidoki for lesportsac” it said, “prosport”

The “Ciao Ciao large” bag pictures on Nordstrom’s site shows a qee that doesn’t seem to have the heart on the arm and the print (adios star) doesn’t appear to be going in the same direction as the print on the LeSportsac site…I was thinking of purchasing the bag until I noticed this…is there anyway a major chain like Nordstrom’s would somehow have fakes…any advice appreciated.
February 28th, 2007 at 7:11 pm
OMG thank you! ^^ This guide has helped me a lot.
February 28th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
d - there is a 0% chance of Nordstrom carrying fakes. Their Ciao Ciao bags are very much real, and I see the star on the qee’s arm. The Adios Star Ciao Ciao on their site might also look different because the bag is pictured with the flap folded over, which therefore makes the print on the flap appear to be upside-down. You have nothing to worry about purchasing from Nordstrom, ever.
Mickey - thanks for the tip! I will include it!
Revejag - you’re welcome.

I am shopping for tokidoki bags on ebay and many of them looks so suspiciously fake, even though they say 100% authentic. This guide helped so much.
Thanks!
March 2nd, 2007 at 11:31 pm
This guide is awesome & I wish more people knew about it.
Two bags on eBay that sold:
Item number: 330094189763 & Item number: 320086109893.
I reported BOTH and they both sold, one for $96. This makes me SO mad.
One of them is a fanny pack, and it is nothing like the Canguro [which I dont think even came in that print? or i dont remember coming in it]. It’s a real LeSportsac fanny pack, sure. But not tokidoki. Grrr!!!! And the other one? WHAT is that supposed to be?? “I can’t seem to find the style name online, but it’s most comparable to the Gioco bag.” Because you’re full of S$%&!!
March 4th, 2007 at 6:42 am
There is the foul seller on eBay selling obvious Tokidoki fakes, and prints I’ve NEVER seen. I keep reporting them but nothing ever gets pulled. Take a look at these
http://stores.ebay.com.au/highfashionline
March 4th, 2007 at 2:33 pm
Well Kylie, hopefully those bags are at least SO fake that nobody would be fooled by them. :\
March 4th, 2007 at 7:10 pm
http://www.ebay.com.my/viItem?ItemId=320087688396
This guy had the cheek to tell me it is 100% authentic!
But now I know better thanks to this blog. And one more thing, people who sell fakes are too afraid to email you pictures of the item
March 5th, 2007 at 1:24 am
Thats wierd as thats the EXACT same pictures of the bag that I sent to have a legit check, and it came back FAKE
ebay link
I wonder if they arent the same seller. Mine was supposedly located in Australia, but upon searching his feedback there are TONS of complaints that it shipped from overseas…
March 5th, 2007 at 7:47 am
Hi,
Just a bit of advice, if you use paypal you are protected as long as you can show proof you sent the faulty item back and your complaint is made within the specified time. Also, ebay offers protection however it is just for the cost of the item but not shipping, so if you pay some exhorbitant amount for shipping then you will be out of luck. Another note is that even if a bag is missing a qee it doesn’t mean its a fake, there are a lot of qee collectors out there and some of the qees are selling for almost as much as the original price of some of the bags.
March 5th, 2007 at 8:04 am
Oh one more thing I forgot, there were two different black bags. The first season was called just Black and had the shiny green and colored hardware. The later versions have the brushed silver and are called Notte.
March 5th, 2007 at 10:57 am
All good points, Kim - I will update later today with your comments, thanks! Do you know what season(s) the Notte print was available for? Tokidoki Black was first season (and still available for the second season too, I think?). I didn’t keep very good track of the solid prints.
March 8th, 2007 at 12:11 pm
saw this “new” qee pop up a few days ago on ebay…

March 8th, 2007 at 12:15 pm
guess this is a better pic of the “new” qee…

March 8th, 2007 at 12:16 pm
Pattie, the qee in the link that you posted is real. That is what a real qee looks like from the back view. I should add a back view photo of the Tokidoki qee to this guide now that you’ve pointed out the need for it..
March 8th, 2007 at 12:18 pm
yeah, sorry, i actually realized RIGHT after i posted it. i never look at the back.
yeah.. it might help, actually. ;o)
March 8th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
Yep I can confirm thats the back, exactly like mine..
March 8th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
PS If you want some good closeups of the Pirata Buon here is my current auction
March 9th, 2007 at 5:46 am
I spoted this buyer and they acutally claim that they’re direct distributor of LeSportsac. –> http://www.friendster.com/36515788
=_=
your guide helps alot. keep it going! THANKS!
March 9th, 2007 at 2:04 pm
Hi, I’m planning to sell some AUTHENTIC tokidoki bags soon and was wondering if I could use your page as a reference for sellers to look at before buying my item. There’s just too many details to cover for one listing. I really appreciate your putting this together. I thought I knew all the little tricks bootleggers use but the color of the lesportsac signs vs the border, I never picked up. Thanks
March 9th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
Samantha - meaning you would link to this page in your auction, or direct anyone who had questions to this page? Either way, sounds fine with me.
March 9th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
Thank you soooo much for this post!! I have been desperately searching for a Luna bag (in rose) . . . and I spotted several at Ebay with the fake, flimsy chain . . . it made me suspicious and a search quickly brought me here!! You saved me from wasting money on a fake (and making some creep about $180.00 richer!!!)
Like Samantha above, I am going to sell some of my citta (blue and white) items (since I have been replacing them with citta rose). I too would like to use this link to both educate buyers . . . is that okay?
March 9th, 2007 at 5:38 pm
Erica - you’re welcome!! I am glad this guide is helping people to not get scammed. It is ok if you (or anyone else who wants to) links to this guide to educate buyers. I encourage it! The more people that know how to spot fakes, the better.
March 10th, 2007 at 7:26 pm
Erica, if you list your bags can you let me know? My daughter is looking for a citta bag but doesn’t have the $$ for the NWT; hoping to get one a little less that’s still authentic.
March 11th, 2007 at 5:13 am
Hi Could you please let me know if this is a real or fake bag, thanks
March 11th, 2007 at 5:14 am
ebay link
March 11th, 2007 at 7:00 pm
Sharon, you should have asked the seller for more pictures and analyse it like mad! That’s what I did. Ask for all angles, a detailed pictures of the Qee, chain, inside, the zippers, EVERYTHING!
One more thing I’d like to add is that the zip of the 100% A grade copy (OR what we call FAKE) on the inside lining of the bag has a zipper pull that has ‘Lesportsac’ on it. An original has a generic zipper pull with no such words on it.
I hope you can add this in Steph!
March 12th, 2007 at 2:18 am
Thank you so much for the info. I looked at the sellers feedbackand all was positive and they advise it was authentic, so I left it at that based on her feedback, unfortunately I found this site after, thank you again.
March 12th, 2007 at 11:03 am
Thanks so much for posting this
I’ve gotten two bags so far but they’ve been from Macy’s so I haven’t had much to worry about. I’m looking for the original print and the only place I can seem to find it still is online by chance
hopefully I’ll come across a legit one that isn’t expensive! Thanks again!!
March 12th, 2007 at 10:45 pm
Slayerbabe - good eye! I just added your zipper pull info into #4.
Jenn - you’re welcome, hope this guide helps you in your search!
March 15th, 2007 at 4:51 pm
is a regular lesportsac bag with a fake tokidoki qee.
at least it’s not labelled as a tokidoki bag, but..what the heck?
March 15th, 2007 at 5:10 pm
also, why does this person have a bunch of different bags pictured:
ebay link
?? i’m confused by this auction
March 15th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
anyone know anything about this auction ( Item number: 200088134756 ) or the bags and other things pictured at the bottom of it?
March 18th, 2007 at 9:06 pm
Braccialettos don’t come with qees. I bought two directly from Lesportsac website during Christmas. They’re the only ones that don’t get qees =(
March 19th, 2007 at 5:39 am
Heres a new fake for you
March 19th, 2007 at 3:48 pm
did all of the original print bags come with meomi? i bought a bella bella in the original print (from nordstrom), but the qee looks like the one that came with my inferno bag.
March 19th, 2007 at 5:08 pm
Leslie - the original print Bella Bella bag came with the Meomi qee. Reference photos can be found at this blog’s Tokidoki Bag Archive.
March 19th, 2007 at 5:10 pm
any ideas as to why all of the original print bags i saw at nordstrom (there were only 2-3) had the white qee?
March 19th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
Were they Tokidoki Black bags (black outside, Tokidoki print inside) or were they bags with the Tokidoki print on the outside? Tokidoki Black bags came with the white Tokidoki qees. If the bags were original print on the outside, my guess would be that people stole the Meomi qees from them, and Nordstrom replaced them with white Tokidoki qees, which are easier to come by.
March 19th, 2007 at 5:15 pm
they are the print on the outside bags with green interiors. it looks just like the picture other than the white qee instead of the blue one.
March 21st, 2007 at 9:33 pm
re: fake found by kylie-
“We get the items from trusted and reliable supplier, If you have a doubt or want to argue about its authenticity, PLEASE DO NOT BID!!!! ”
UGHHHH!!!! But it’s soooo obviously a fake!! I feel bad for the 17 people that bid on it already. damn..
Actually, since none have feedback, hopefully theyre fake bids too.
March 27th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
I have been a LeSportsac collector for many years now, from its classic collection to remix, AVAF, to tokidoki. I’ll share another authenticity detail about the tokidoki zippers. LeSportsac uses the multicolor metal rainbow teeth zipper from the brand “riri zippers” (riri zippers are also used in some of the marc jacobs bag). Therefore, if you look underneath the zipper pulls, it will have the brand name “riri”. Riri zippers are relatively expansive, not sure if the fake bags will also go into the details to use the same zipper. Since we are on the topic of zippers, just an FYI, the classic and other collections always use YKK zippers. Hope the info is useful!
March 29th, 2007 at 1:01 am
I wish I knew about this site before I became a victim of FAKE Tokidokis!
I was the idiot who won the “Tokidoki” Paradiso Gioco on ebay (The 1st one posted on the flower spring section). I wanted to surpise my girlfriend with this bag and when I gave it to her for our annivesary she said it was a fake! Too also add “How to” the font on the straps are wrong/smaller than the REAL Tokidoki
March 29th, 2007 at 8:46 pm
Hi everyone, I just got this blog from one of my customer at ebay. He told me the bags that I am selling now are fake, I do apologize that I am not expert on lesportsac dokidoki. I did got all my bags from a couple different stores, while ALL the owners of those stores told me those bags are ALL authentic. Now I got this blog as my guildline to shop for dokidoki, then I won’t sell anymore fake ones at ebay. As I keep on reading this blog, someone did use my bag as an example of the fake, so I took out all the bags that I can spot as fake using the guildline above, while there are a lot of those are authentic (base on the guildelines shown above).
I hope all you tokidoki lovers will give me another chance, because I do care about my reputation and I do not want to sell any fake tokidoki at all.
Again, I will use the guildeline to make future purchase. ( And I already end all the auctions that I spot as fake tokidoki) Thanks for educating me about tokidoki.
March 29th, 2007 at 8:58 pm
Hey karyna07 - I just looked you up on ebay, and the 3 bags that you still have listed for sale are also fake. Sorry!
March 29th, 2007 at 8:59 pm
lsantiago707 - so sorry that happened to you.
Hopefully your girlfriend at least appreciated your effort. At least you know now for the future.
March 30th, 2007 at 1:26 am
S- well even though karyna07 apology appeared sincere- they took another poor souls money tonight and sold a fake foresta backpack for $103.58. For the heartache this will cause when he/she gets it in the mail-they should have paid full price at Nordstroms.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:15 pm
A perfect fake for example of SHAPES/STYLES and the wrong trim color.
Item number: 330102983737
Seems the bags that appear legit aren’t being bid on, and yet..THIS fake one is.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Item number: 110108482281
And, uh..never seen that print before..it’s like a combo of citta and original..or am I on crack?
April 1st, 2007 at 4:16 am
To response to Mickey:
The bag that I sold for $103.58 was bidded by my friend, who is just bidding that bag for me so I could NOT sale that to someone else, because I cannot end that auction since someone else already placed a bid. Also the same day, I ended the other auctions that no one place any bid. Even though I lost quite some money for the ebay auctions fees plus the bags that are not authentic (which I though they were), but still I do not want to sell fake bags at all.
Thanks.
April 1st, 2007 at 9:03 am
Please help me report these two bags, seller doesnt see anything wrong with them even though it has Flower Spring all over them
fake 1
fake 2

Oh wow, I am so glad I came across your blog! I have been considering a Tokidoki for a while now - being such a fan of the L.A.M.B for LeSportsac bags, I figured the Tokidokis would be just as awesome! Like a lot of people, I have been looking on eBay for a Tokidoki to possibly save a few $$. But after reading through this blog and finding out about all the fake Tokidokis, I decided to play it safe and get mine (a Pirata Gioco - on its way!) from Nordstrom.com. So many of the fakes have such minor changes that a casual fan like me might not catch. Thanks to you, I am steering clear of the eBay Tokidokis to ensure I don’t let someone get a chunk of my money on a fake bag!
Here’s a newly listed fake I just found … it actually wasn’t until I saw the PINK lining that I realized it was fake. Of course, once I scrolled back up and looked at the other images, I noticed the images were wrong as was the text: ebay link
Anyway, thanks again! As a LeSportsac fan, I usually spot the fakes right away, but I’m still new to Tokidoki, so I’m glad you all are on top of things and are helping educate us! You’re the best!!

I just noticed another way to point out fakes. On the feet of the white qee it will have “tokidoki Lesportsac Edition” on the bottom of the left foot as well as the copyright year TOY2R on the right foot. It might be hard to see in photos but I noticed that on all my bags

Beware! Despite her “sincere” apologies, karyna07 is still selling FAKE bags. Last night an “original campeggio” (mislabled as Paradiso) went for a BIN price of $140.
April 2nd, 2007 at 1:17 pm
Response to Anne:
I really tried to spot all the fake bags, espeically the ones that say “spring flowers” on. I am just a student who try to sell stuff on ebay to help with my education cost, I am not expert on tokidoki and I used a lot of money to buy all these bags. I felt terrible that I got tricked by those owners already. I used the guide above to spot the fake ones, that campeggio is the one that I think is authentic. I already threw away 1/3 of all the bags I purchased and lost a lot of money. You can say I am not sincere, but if I really ain’t, I will just be like all the other ebayers who sell fake stuff and ignore this site and any other comments. But still I try to learn more about tokidoki, in terms of the styles and prints, so I can avoid to sell fake stuff while I really do not want to.
April 2nd, 2007 at 2:20 pm
karyna07, the Campeggio that you say you think was real is pictured in this guide as a fake under item #5.
April 2nd, 2007 at 3:22 pm
suz- they might have just mixed that inside image with their others [they have two citta prints up on auction too] since they have pink insides..? i’d ask for more pictures of the inside if you were interested in that print. it looked ok other than that to me,\.
uh, (fake tokidoki 1) wtf. is this to trick people new to tokidoki? that’s so messed up.
Another thing is if the background is GREY and spacious..[real ones are more like collages, for lack of better way to describe it..]such as:
fake tokidoki 2 –which comes with TWO fake bags!!
Note the far-away inside images: fake tokidoki 3 OH besides the admission “It does not have the traditional rainbow metal zipper” THAT MAKES IT A FAKE,girl!!
I think it wouldn’t be so bad if people would just sell for cheaper and as “KNOCK-OFFS” instead of pretending their original.
April 2nd, 2007 at 6:08 pm
I have also noticed some new fakes that are pretty good, they even have ‘tokidoki for Lesportsac’ on the print, this is one of the better fakes.
except the ribbon trim is off- it has black trim w/pink lesportsac logo (instead of the black w/silver it ought to have), the hardware colors are wrong, and the qee is missing the star on the left arm.
April 4th, 2007 at 3:51 am
hi, my mom just bought a regular lesportsac purse from the user snoopy_is_no_dog and i noticed that all her tokidoki for lesportsac bags are fake! i can’t stand that this person is selling fakes, and i hope that the purse my mom bought isn’t a fake!!
April 4th, 2007 at 1:05 pm
Hey! Just another Tokidoki lover.
Here’s another way to spot if the seller is selling fake bags: usually, in the review section, honest sellers will leave the links to the old bids up so that later buyers can view the items already sold. People selling fakes will either list the already sold items as private OR take down the links to the photos from the past bids. Here are some links to examples of what I’m talking about:
http://myworld.ebay.com/iloveshoes321/
http://myworld.ebay.com.au/schmeichung/
See? You can’t click on the old item #’s to check the items.
http://myworld.ebay.com.au/highfashionau/
This guy was selling fakes but then listed all his old sales as private so you couldn’t go back and check them.
Also, sometimes the sellers will leave the links to their old auctions up-GO AND CHECK ‘EM JUST TO MAKE SURE!! Some sellers with fakes have also been known to take down the photos listed on the sale page right after the auction is over.
Hope that helps!

here’s another one from the seller that hazelnutoki posted earlier…
Fake Tokidoki
April 6th, 2007 at 7:54 pm
Is this tokidoki scoula bag real? Please answer quickly!!
April 6th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
dangggg thanks so much for posting this. I told my mom not to buy off of ebay because I told her there are fakes on there…tsk tsk. thanks!
April 10th, 2007 at 3:46 pm
Caitlin- I would’ve told you to ask the bidder for more pictures, especially to see what the pricetag shown in the main picture said, but I see the bidding is over by now. Especially get more pics of the qee, since that one shown is horrible. And use this guide like your new bible.
April 10th, 2007 at 8:22 pm
Hello! I am only ten years old and i already really like tokidoki. I have been admiring them whenever i go to macy’s but my mom and dad told me they were too expensive and i could only buy one if i saved up. I haven’t been getting any money because i don’t have an allowance so i was wondering where people buy fake tokidokis. I am not trying to be rude or anything to the Lesportsac tokidoki brand but i really want to know. I heard they were much cheaper. I live in Los Angeles by the way.
April 12th, 2007 at 12:57 pm
gosh, i am now a proudly idiot who owns now a fake tokidoki. unfortunately i only can get these bags over ebay as on my continent you cant buy them. i was wondering about the poor quality of my bag and thats how i came to this blog - to late unfortunately..
April 16th, 2007 at 1:52 am
now i’m scared to buy any tokidoki bag on ebay! since i want some past prints/styles (more foresta, citta rosa) i feel like ebay is my only option.
does anyone know about ebay seller vinlala403? i was looking at this auction and actually bid on it before i took the time to really examine everything. the measurements are for a mamma mia, but the auction lists it as a buon viaggio. i messaged the seller to ask and this is the reply i got:
“Hi, this is the buon viaggio, it says the name on the tag also. Thanks..” it ended at $96. -_-
maybe if someone could compile a list of sellers who only sell AUTHENTIC tokidoki bags, or we could post our experiences with buying authentic bags from ebay, that would be an excellent resource.
April 16th, 2007 at 9:40 am
stephanie - that bag was real, but the auction stated “Please note that the winning bidder might not receive the exact print as pictured!”
April 17th, 2007 at 3:59 am
Hi, I want to say THANK YOU so much for taking the time to put this together! I desperately want a paradiso campeggio and have been looking at them on ebay — can anyone tell me if there is any reason to be suspicious of this one? The print placement is not great, but after reading this site I am more concerned with authenticity than print placement! I can’t see the left arm of the qee to see if it has the red star, but the seller has 100% positive feedback since 2004. Here is the link.
Thank you!
April 18th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
Princess, you should NEVER buy a fake ANYTHING, let alone a fake Tokidoki Lesportsac bag. Fake items (like bags, shoes, clothing) support terrorist groups. You might save yourself a lot of money, but the money you paid just helped a group that kills people. Plus, the quality of fake bags is never as good as the original. And finally, if you carry around a fake bag, other people might figure out that you have a fake bag, and that just never looks good.
April 18th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
Eejit — &everyone else: always ask the seller for pictures.
If ANYthing strikes you as odd about an auction, ask for more pictures. Ask for pictures of the qee. of the zippers. of the inside.
Just don’t be afraid to ask the seller, and using this guide you should be able to figure it out.
April 18th, 2007 at 7:55 pm
I have real toki bags that I purchased from Macys and they don’t have ‘riri’ on the underneath of any of the zippers…? Is that only for a particular season or what?
April 18th, 2007 at 10:04 pm
Allison - thank you. Great advice.
Snapcat - the “riri” is under the zipper head, not the zipper pull. You have to almost turn the bag inside out to see it. It’s under the part that the zipper teeth go into.
April 21st, 2007 at 11:37 pm
I was shopping today at Glendale Galleria in California and guess what i saw… a foresta buon viaggio for only $50 in Macy’s. I was going to get it but the bag is too big and i am a small girl so i just wanted to tell you guys. If any of you people live in los angeles or glendale you should buy it!
April 22nd, 2007 at 6:21 pm
It is $110 off its original price! i went back because i decided i’ll get it but it wasn’t there anymore…
April 23rd, 2007 at 3:02 am
Hi there! With your permission (above) I used this guide to sell an Inferno Ciao: and it really gave Ebayers confidence! I am currently selling my entire collection (both NWT and Used) because what I wanted since FOREVER was the Luna in Citta (and by selling my collection, I can just afford it!!). I saw this one today and bought it … BUT now I am totally FREAKED OUT!! Would one of the LeSportsSac pros that help here assess this bag and see if you spot anything wrong? (It seems to be authentic, unless I missed something!!) (I bought it in haste because some other people seemed very interested!!) Erg!! I am so nervous now !!! (I don’t know how to thank you for helping me … but know that I appreciate your skills very much!!)

April 25th, 2007 at 5:07 pm
It’s nice to see that you’re on a mission to help people avoid fakes… but i think some of what you say is a bit… overboard.
I am an anonymous coward with IP address 70.230.202.13.
April 25th, 2007 at 6:13 pm
‘Thanks But Nothanks’ - the person that runs this blog began this, yes, but it also has had a lot of contributions from other tokidoki fans, who also don’t want people getting fakes. It’s not just the person who started this blog. I don’t see how it’s “overboard” at all. I think you meant “thorough.”
It’s all good info that is not listed on any other sites, and people new to tokidoki wouldn’t have any clue about.
April 26th, 2007 at 7:14 pm
hey, if anyone’s wondering about the ebay seller, vinlala403 selling real tokidoki bags, you don’t have to worry. i won a paradiso ciao ciao a few days ago from the seller and i just received it today. i checked the bag very, very closely and it is real. it matched the details he/she listed. the seller charges an arm for S&H though (he/she just put the bag in a large envelope without bubble wrap or anything and sent it out - that’s it!). but anyone who’s interested can bid safely. good luck! =)
May 2nd, 2007 at 9:30 pm
oh my goshhhhh! i saw a paradiso bag in a store called Boarders… plus it was 50% off!!!!!!……………………. sad thing was that my parents didn’t let me buy it… it was like somewhere near $100(original price) and then it was $50 but my parents said it was too expensive…
May 3rd, 2007 at 8:19 am
Hey guys,
I really need some help - fake or not fake? I got it today and I was wondering about the quality of the bag… the qee looks “off” to me as does the quality of the bag itself, there are no “riri” stamps… I’m thinking about contacting the seller and I want to know if anyone has any advice on how to approach this.
Thanks a lot everyone!
May 3rd, 2007 at 9:21 am
Samantha - I am sorry to tell you the bag you bought is fake. File an “item significantly not as described” claim with ebay/paypal and get your money refunded.
May 3rd, 2007 at 9:46 am
Hey blogger - don’t know what to call you so I’ll leave it at that lol - thanks for the suggestion.
Besides for what I indicated above, what else gave you the idea that the bag wasn’t real? I’ve never filed such a claim on ebay so I want to make a list of the evidence as to the non-authenticity of my bag:
-no riri stamp on the zippers
-the qee is completely wrong
-the white “sportsac” logos on the bag seem off to me
That’s what I can come up with (I’m a total tokidoki newbie as you can already see) - is there anything else obvious that I should be aware of?
If anyone else has any advice, I’m all ears!
Thanks again for your help!
May 4th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Samantha - I suggest going through this guide item by item and creating your list that way. Judging by your list so far, you’re completely on the right track.
May 6th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
Thanks for your help - I went over my bag painstakingly and emailed her an exhaustive list - and I got a refund immediately! She wants me to mail the bag back which is fair and square… just hoping she doesn’t put it right back on Ebay, so I’ll be on the lookout and will report it to Ebay if so. Thanks so much for the guide, it helped me to no end in compiling my “fake” list.
May 6th, 2007 at 10:10 pm
Just wanted to say THANKS for putting so much time and effort into this. I’ve used this site as my guide while shopping Tokidoki bags on eBay. I feel confident that I purchased authentic ones. When they arrive I’ll be sure to check them over and check the guide again. I’ve also spotted many fakes on eBay and havereported them. They are all still going though with bids. I’ve contacted the bidders telling them the bags were fake and giving them a link to the site. Maybe they care that the bag is fake…maybe not….either way they deserve to know about what they are buying. I hope someone would do the same for me if I was in the situation. Anywho, THANK YOU so much!
May 7th, 2007 at 7:30 am
I an ebay seller and i also have my own website selling Tokidoki items amongst others. I do not sell Tokidoki lesportsac but a different european brand Sportandem. All of these bags and stationery items are licensed they are just a lot cheaper than lesportsac products but very nice all the same. I noticed someone asking about some products that look like Sportandem items in this blog so thought i’d let everyone know these products are not fakes just not Lesportsac.
Also wanted to thank everyone for this guide as i love the lesportsac Tokidoki bags but not sure whether to buy from ebay.
May 7th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
oh!!! victoria, i’ve seen your site & you sell some great stuff!!
May 7th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
Samantha and Jessica - you’re welcome! And I have also seen Victoria’s website and can confirm that her non-LeSportsac Tokidoki bags are real (and cute!!).
May 12th, 2007 at 2:25 am
Hi.
My friend has a Tokidoki LeSportsac bag.
Looking around on other websites, I`ve noticed that the print she has is different. Her print has chicks, hearts, stripes and polka-dots. And its a small bag. But it came with a bigger bag and another smaller bag.
It honestly looks real. X__X
May 19th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
Hi there! Thank you so much for setting this blog up! It’s excellent! Anyway, I was wondering, can someone who owes the very first tokidoki print tell me what the inside zipper handle color is? Is it supposed to be yellow? I would think that it would be green to match with the green hardware outside. I really want to purchase an original print to go with my collection but is afraid to purchase anything on ebay. Here’s a picture:
http://i4.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/9f/3b/9e51_1.JPG
I was also wondering about the Tan Playground print. I’ve recently brought a Tan playground caramella on ebay and it looked real online (i’ve checked the archive on this page many times before bidding on it) but when i recieved it, I’m a little suspicious with the zipper handle outside. Is it supposed to be black? I would think it be copper to match with the hardware. It is hard for me to confirm this on the archive because it doesn’t show detail pictures of the hardward and zipper handle. So can someone help me out?! Thank you so much!
May 19th, 2007 at 10:32 pm
aquaba11,
I have a tan playground print dolce and the zipper head IS black but the zipper pull ( the round one with the little tulip engraved into it) is suposed to be bronze just like the rest of the hardware. I hope this helps
May 19th, 2007 at 10:35 pm
I also have a question about the Original print Scuola. Is the zipper of the outside front pocket supposed to be white or multicolored like it is on the scuolas of the newer prints? I would also like to know what the color of the inside zipper pocket of the stellina is?
May 19th, 2007 at 11:17 pm
Crstina: Thank you so much! That really helped me cus now that Im relief to know that I got the real thing! Thank you!
Cristina: About the original scuola. I have seen pictures of the scuola and it’s supposed to be muticolored (like all of the bags in the original print) not white.
May 20th, 2007 at 5:50 pm
Can everyone please help me report this seller. Hes constantly listing bad fakes, even his past auctions are shown as examples on this website as fakes
http://search.ebay.com.au/_W0QQsassZorg_minoritiQQhtZ-1
Hes a cunning one and folds the bags over so you cannot see the ‘flower spring’ on them!
May 21st, 2007 at 11:10 pm
The zipper on the outer pocket of the Original print scuola is NOT multi color. It is white.
May 22nd, 2007 at 12:37 am
Ok now I’m confused haha……… Some one stated the zipper of the outer front pocket of the scuola In the Original print is multicolored and some one else said it is white……………..
May 22nd, 2007 at 12:39 am
Anne,
Do you have one or have phisically seen one? I really apresciate the help…
May 22nd, 2007 at 12:43 am
tokidokiblog,
Do you know the aswer to my question:
Is the zipper of the outside front pocket supposed to be white or multicolored like it is on the scuolas of the newer prints?
I want to buy one from ebay but all the ones there have white zippers
Thanks to everyone for your help
May 22nd, 2007 at 7:43 am
Yes I have an original Scuola and the front zipper is white. I did some checking around after I bought it ’cause I was concerned and several people on tPF who had purchased original Scuolas directly from LeSportSac or from reputable places like Macy’s or Nordies confirmed the bags they bought also had white zippers.
It was only later Scuolas that had the colored zippers on the front pocket. And I think some fake Original Scuolas may have rainbow zippers which makes it even more confusing!
The front zippers on the Original Scuoloas do have two green zipper pulls, a lof of the fakes don’t have those.
May 22nd, 2007 at 2:59 pm
I have a question… and it’s been making me feel a bit overly worried. I’ve been looking everywhere for the Cucciolo in the Inferno print, and I’ve just ordered the bag yesterday on a japanese site (oops), but ever since I stumbled upon this blog and read about the fakes, I’ve been comparing it to the Inferno bag, and now I can’t even tell if it’s fake or not! (I like to call it paranoia…)
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/fabrics/9521-4682/
Anyways, if anyone could, please tell me if I’ve just dug myself a hole and bought a fake, or got the authentic one? Thank you~ : 3
May 22nd, 2007 at 4:24 pm
Cristina and Anne: Bout the Original Scuola. My friend has one and she brought it from Norstrom a while back and the front zipper is muticolored — that’s why I was so confident that it was mutilcolored. But I dont know anymore. That would suck if she actually got a fake one and thought she had the real one all this time.
May 22nd, 2007 at 5:24 pm
syntic- that’s most likely real & you likely paid wayyy too much for it.
aqua-your friend probably didn’t get an original print if it has rainbow zippers. nordstrom doesn’t sell fakes.
May 22nd, 2007 at 5:25 pm
**&to add to my comment — i was referring only the rainbow ones on the outside that should be white in original print. i realized afterwards that wasn’t clear.
May 22nd, 2007 at 8:42 pm
aquaba11,
THE ORIGINAL PRINT YOU ARE REFERING TO IS THE SAME AS THE PRINT ON THE TOP OF THIS PAGE RIGHT? tHE BACKROUND TO THE WORDS “TOKIDOKI BLOG”?
May 22nd, 2007 at 8:44 pm
DID ANYONE PURCHASE AN ORIGINAL PRINT STELLINA FROM ANYWHARE BUT EBAY? CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT COLOR THE ZIPER PULL OF THE INSIDE POCKET IS? THANKS
May 23rd, 2007 at 12:46 am
Haha, thank you Allison. It makes me feel a lot better now. *nods* Price isn’t that much of a big deal to me~ I like it enough to pay the horrid amount (even my friends called me crazy for doing something like that), but oh wells. : 3
May 28th, 2007 at 11:41 am
I really wanted to add tokidoki amore print handbag to my collection . I am sweating until my bag is shipped hoping it isnt a fake.
If an item is listed as authentic and what I recieve is contrary to the listing does paypal/ebay protect the buyer?
It looked legit online and was the exact style and print placement I’ve been looking for!
I used paypal but Im still hoping it isnt too good to be true
This blog is excellente.
May 28th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
Yes, Ms paranoid, there is help for you; if the listing says the item is real, and the item received is not. Paypal has buyer protection. I know there is stuff about that on the purse forum, if you’re looking for more info
May 29th, 2007 at 12:21 am
Hello all. I have been looking at a couple of these bags, myself. My daughter has fallen in love with them, and after reading everything, not sure if I want to buy one on ebay. Could someone look at these numbers and let me know?
110128996992 (This person has lots of name brand purses. I always wonder where people get so many of them)
330124336781 (For some reason, I feel like this one if fake.)
Can someone help out?
May 29th, 2007 at 1:25 am
Hi Melissa:
110128996992 looks real to me, I have a Pirata Zucca and the construction is the same. I have seen this bag at Macy’s too. Why not buy one ay Macy’s, there are certain days when I go there and they give me 15 - 20% off for using my Macys card.
330124336781 - Can’t be sure if its real, I haven’t looked at this print much. I’m embarassed to say how many Tokidokis I have, all from Le Sportsac in Hawaii, or Le Sportsac online and Macys. I have the original print, Citta Rosa, Pirata, Inferno, Amore and Foresta.
Good Luck on your purchase! I love the Zucca style - good choice!
May 29th, 2007 at 2:53 pm
330124336781 is real.
110128996992 is real too, but this style is still in some stores [macys, nordstrom] so you could probably pick it up in person, melissa
May 29th, 2007 at 8:11 pm
Liz: you said that you have the original print right? Which bag style did you get of it? I’m asking because a few people had wonder what the inside zipper head color was…I dont think it was ever asnwered. Could you tell us? I recently brought a stellina of the original print on ebay, it sure looks real but I just want to make sure.
May 30th, 2007 at 1:24 am
Thanks to everyone that replied. Well I lost the first auction, but still trying to get the other one. We live in a very rural area, about an hour from mall or dept stores..so online is my easiest way to get them.
Thanks again!
melissa
May 30th, 2007 at 1:37 am
Thanks to leesa_rose for linking me to this site. MAN ALIVE! I was so excited to see some Playground bags that I didn’t do my homework! The irony of my excitement is that I own a good 10+ bags, three of which I purchased on eBay [and are authentic, zipper heads and all!] so not spotting them right away means I’m getting LAZY!
Maroon:
I have an Original Bella Bella. The inside zipper color silver and came with a blue Meomi qee. Note that the main zipper head will be BLACK and the ring w/the icon head are green. All exterior zippers on the Original print are like this; someone correct me when I’m wrong -TIA!
May 30th, 2007 at 1:45 am
Melissa: I would suggest giving South Hampton LeSportSac Outlet store and seeing if they have any Paradiso bags in stock -they’re 25% off, charge you your state tax [usually] AND shipping is $8.50 for one or three bags! Lindsey is the best, so I suggest you contact them in the morning! shampton@lesportsac.com // ask for Lindsey 1-631-283-1733
May 30th, 2007 at 6:36 pm
Well, everyone…I paid probably way too much for this bag…but you know how it is, getting caught up in the bidding, and since everyone seemed to think both were auth, I went ahead and won it. (Didn’t even think I would. ) I am embarassed to say that I was feverishly bidding in a war!
But, the upside is, my daughter’s sixteenth bday is in July, and this is the only thing she has asked for. (Except for a sixteenth bday party on the same level as the “My Sweet Sixteen” bday parties on Mtv. ) GRRR.
Don’t think that’ll happen! I am taking her with the family to celebrate her bday on the beach, and she will be going parasailing..isn’t that enough??
Anyway, thanks for all the help. Vanessa, I wish I would’ve saw your reply sooner.
~Melissa

*laughs* You’re a great mother Melissa, I hope all goes well for you, and your daughter’s birthday. She’s a very lucky girl. : D
May 31st, 2007 at 1:25 am
Thank you so much Vanessa A!! Yay, i got a legit bag. Excellent. Thanks for clearing it up for me. I’ve always wanted a Meomi qee!

Hello all, I have been reading this great blog since I got my first Toki bag last Xmas and I really appreciate all the info. and assistance with sales and new releases and of course this excellent guide to spotting fake bags.
Afer I read the sad news about the line being discontinued (sob) I decided I’d better stop putting off getting at least a couple more bags and have been checking out local Macys and Lord & Taylors when I have the time.
Earlier tonight, I went to Macys (Northshore Mall, MA) and they were out of everything except one single Inferno print bag and when I got closer, I saw that it was a very obvious knock off, one of those “Flower Spring” fakes! It had the real Toki tags and bead chain and I don’t know if the store did it or the person who “returned” it did, but the $160 price tag was glued down onto the top Tokidoki tag and there was no qee either, ugh.
I brought the fake to one of the department employees and he acted as if he were totally aware that the bag was fake but it was quite obvious he was clueless, so I showed him my own Inferno Mamma Mia and pointed out all the real Tokidoki accoutrements and he just seemed baffled (and pretty embarassed too).
So please remember, even if it’s a legitimate retailer like Macys, not all of their employees either know what’s what or care to scrutinize things that get returned and now the scammer may do double damage: once against the retailer and potentially twice against a consumer who might not know any better or more than a careless/uninformed store employee.
Additionally, I was at another Macy’s (Square One Mall, MA) even earlier today and bought their last Toki bag (Spiaggia Camepggio, even though I’m 50/50 on keeping it, lol) and the clerk who rang me up had NO CLUE what LeSportsac or Tokidoki were AND when she scanned it, the bag came up full price despite numerous 25% off LeSportsac signs. When I asked her why the bag wasn’t on sale with the rest she just vacantly re-rang the bag with the discount w/o checking. This situation turns out to be a good thing for me (why didn’t I say it was 35% off?!) but it just further supports the clueless employee pitfall.
Sorry for such a lengthy post but I thought people should be cautious even in seemingly more secure settings outside eBay and I also felt people who may be in my area should know seeng as how that clerk could have just chucked that fake bag right back onto their LeSportsac rack (I shudder to think!).

Girlcreeture, I think you are right, a friend of mine bought a Canguro (Arancio) pattern at Macy’s (its authentic tokidoki but just missing its qee). We talked to the clerk about it and she is completely clueless, she has no idea that it came with a qee. However, she was able to give us a 60% discount out of the original price, which was $108. Anyway, always check your tokidoki bag no matter where you bought it, these days everyone can return anything back to the store even without tags!
June 2nd, 2007 at 12:15 am
Girlcreeture: I have dealt with that before too. The empolyees really are clueless. I dont think they ever check the bags after a return. I found a foresta gioco at one of the Macy’s once. The bag was in bad condition but it is still 160. I checked the tag and it’s not even the right bag style nor the right print name (the tag says “mamma mia, priata”). I went and told one of the empolyee and all she could say to me was “oh that’s weird” and took it back. I returned, after walking around the mall, and saw that the foresta gioco was put back on the shelf with the rest of the tokidoki bags. The lady didn’t even do anything about it.
But that’s not that bad. What’s bad is that one of my friend brought an original backpack from Nordstrom and it turned out to be fake! She told me it was a return item and was on sale because it was the last one in that print at the store. She can’t do anything right now cus she doesn’t have the recipt anymore to prove that she brought it at Nordstorm. So sad.

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend aquaba11! That is really just awful and totally unfair
Eve, I think it’s great that your clerk at least compensated for the missing qee despite her ignorance to its existence (I can only wonder how many qee’s disappear from stores…?).
Ugh! No matter where you work, part time/full time, minimum wage or more, you should ALWAYS know what you’re working with and what product you are selling or find someone who does to learn from them on the job. I wish the people who can’t be bothered to do so would find other jobs where they won’t run the risk of disserving customers.

Hi maroon:
The zipper head is green on the bag I have. Its a bigger bag called Andiamo that is no longer made. It could be used as a diaper bag or beach bag. I am selling it on ebay, check it out if you like. Item #270125400544 - i have 3 other tokidoki bags for sale in Foresta, Inferno and Citta Rosa.
June 2nd, 2007 at 3:48 am
Liz: So err…I’m confused again about the zipper head….someone told me it was silver but you’re telling me it’s green? I know the tulip (round zipper pull in the outside) are green but is the insider zipper head (the genetic zipper in the inside) supposed to be green as well? Do they make different colors for different bag styles? I’m just so confused.
June 2nd, 2007 at 9:29 am
Hi Maroon - The inside fabric of my original print bag is green, and the interior zippers are actually green as well. The outside round zipper pull is green. The zippers themselves on the ouside are the multicolor…I wonder if, since these were the first bags, if there were more inconsistencies?? I got mine at a Le Sportsac shop in Hilton Hawaiian VIllage, so I know its for real. Dies this help at all?

Liz: uhm…maybe so. Everything else about the bag I brought looks legit to me. It came with the Qee; most ebay original prints dont come with a Qee still in plastic and attached. I’m hoping that lesportsac just really were inconsistent about the zipper heads for the first print. haha That would really sucks if i got a fake one. Thanks for all your inputs.

liz,
hi, I’m still a little confused : ) you stated “The inside fabric of my original print bag is green, and the interior zippers are actually green as well” I know the zipper itself is green but are the zipper head and zipper pull also green? I am asking about the inside pocket zipper. Thanks

Hi CRistina -
the inside zipper teeth are green, but the zipper pulls inside are silver…sorry for the confusion!

From what I’ve seen so far, Macy’s removes the Qees from all the Tokidoki bags–to prevent theft, I guess. When you buy a bag from them that has the Qee removed, you need to ask for the Qee.
And as for Nordstrom, they have the most generous return policy of any retailer. They have no time limits on returns and items can be in any condition. I believe you only need the original receipt if you want your refund in the original payment method. Otherwise, you should be able to get at least store credit.

I recently bought a spiaggia gioco from sjkbkk972 with 100% feedback. All the hardware and coloring is correct; this includes the riri imprint under the zipperhead. However the sales tag that came on it actually says its the pirata print . . . this has been crossed out though. I didn’t think to ask to see the sales tag before buying. Has anyone come across this situation? I have yet to ask the seller about this or leave feedback for the seller since I am 99% positive this bag is real, but wanted to see what you guys think. Thanks.
p.s. I hope you (Miss Tokidokiblogger) wins the Pulse Tokidoki Idol contest!

Phuong - the store that tagged the bag just made a mistake. I wouldn’t worry about it if you see the riri on the zippers. I haven’t seen any Spiaggia fakes yet either. And thanks.

Has anyone bought a real tokidoki off of eBay? If so, who was the seller? I’d like to get an older print from a reputable source. Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thank you for posting all of this information!!!

Meredith: I’ve bought a lot of “real” tokis on eBay. Most of them listed there are real, you just need to be careful. Visit the Purse Forum, the people there are really good about spotting the fakes. http://forum.purseblog.com/tokidoki-and-lesportsac/
THere are threads there that talk about good eBay sellers, as well as threads thet list good eBay deals when they show up and point out fakes as well.

does anyone has any information on the new print—spiaggia?
June 16th, 2007 at 8:37 pm
mojo what kind of information are you looking for? Spiaggia has been out for over a month now… you should have no trouble finding it at this point!
June 16th, 2007 at 8:42 pm
meredith—i got this bag on ebay…you can take a look. i got the spiaggia print: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170119821 037. the seller is jaxxx10. based on the fake descriptions on this site, the bag i bought is authentic. the qee is is wrapped in “TOY2R” for lesportsac plastic (a toy comany that partered with the maker of tokidoki), the design of the qee is the same as the one pictured above, the bag has the signiture chain that it’s suppose to have, rainbow zipper, the zipper pull and all the other hardware has the tokidoki character engraved on it and inside the zipper also has “riri” engraved on it. the inside tag says “made in china”, the handles have “lesportsac” engrave all over and it still had the lesportsac sale tag on it with the item number and the the retail price printed when it was sent to me. hope this helps.

HELP!!! Can anyone check out the bag I posted a question about yesterday? It is a bella bella camo playground I purchased on ebay. It will be here by Thursday for further inspection. I figured with 100% feedback rating and the many photos of the bag I am safe that it is a real tokidoki. It is really nerve racking with all the fakes out there. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!
June 18th, 2007 at 9:41 pm
ninjapuff - after reading this guide, is there anything specific that is making you think your bag might be fake?
June 18th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
Actually no. The bella bella was definately made in the camo playground print, it has the right color interior fabric (orange), rainbow zippers look good, hardware looks good, the qee looks authentic, the trim looks good (light olive with dark print lesportsac logos) and like I said the seller has a good feedback rating and even offers returns. The only thing I’d check is the “riri” on the zippers. By the wa
