Spray Scotch Guard on each bag before you use it (on the nylon parts only). Just make sure the bag is REALLY clean before using Scotch Guard, or it will stick to any dirt and make it look worse. Each spray application will keep your bag pretty dirt-resistant for up to 6 months. Remove the qee and chain from the bag or cover them up before spraying the Scotch Guard on, and try not to hit the leather and hardware (it’s not the end of the world if you do though, just wipe it off with a clean sponge).
To wipe off dirt, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work well – they take some patience and persistence if your bag is really dirty though. You can also use a tiny bit of Woolite and a soft sponge and/or Tide pens for cleaning Tokidoki bags.
You can find Scotch Guard, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, Woolite, and Tide pens in the cleaning products aisle of any supermarket.
Read through the comments to this post for additional cleaning suggestions and discussion of what does and does not work.
Yea, that is the one I got too. I found it at wal-mart and I agree with Lorelei, I really had to look at which one to get. The one I got said for purses, etc. so that is how I knew. I had an old one from before but good thing I sprayed it first (and not on the bag) it had a yellow residue so I just went out to buy a new one. I figure it was worth the investment!
yeaa i got the fabric protector Scotch Guard and it works perfectly fine =)
has anyone else tried the Oxi clean?? hope it turned out well ^_^
xoxo Sayuri
ahhh i should have taken more care of my tokidoki bag…
right now, i guess it’s from wear and tear.. one part of the leather looks kinda scratched or the paint is coming off… probably can’t do anything about that (can you?) and i’d like to take wrinkles out of my bag (it’s a gioco) is there any way i can do that? should i iron it? ok thanks
anything to help wrinkles?!=(
Are there any suggestions on how to remove pen stains on the inside of a pirata mama mia? The marks are on the nylon.
Yanique – Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are good -I’ve used them to remove Sharpie marks before – it takes some time but it works…even a light detergent with water might do the trick.
Thanks so much!!
I’ve never had a Tokidoki bag before buying the Carnival Carezza. I noticed a couple comments above regarding color bleeding when Scotch Guard was applied to a couple bags. Do you think that’s a result of (1) too heavy application (2) wrong Scotch Guard type (3) the specific print in question or (4) a full moon?
Has anyone Scotch Gaurded their new Carnival bags? I would DIE if I sprayed Scotch Guard on my new bag and it bled, even if it was a small patch test on the bottom… I’d still freak out.
I have the 2006 Citta Rosa bag, one of the flat sling bags. I must of had it for almost 2 years and was like yeck at the dirt from rubbing on me all this time. My family is on a tight budget but i wanted to clean it. I found an old oxyclean bottle (its a powder and you add some to hot water) i decided to try it and it works! Although i must say that i have made some pretty serious dirtiness on my bag. Although i do regret since the bag folds over and when its on me it does an annoying sharp fold along the top and there are some pretty serious dirt streaks that it could not remove entirely. However, it did reduce them significantly and got rid of all the other dirt on my bag.
All i did was have a container and added hot water and added just a bit of the oxyclean in..about 2-3/8 of the measuring cup in a pint of water. I had a kitchen sponge with the rough side and i used that side to scrub. I didn’t care much to stray from the leather, mainly because the plainess of the leather doesn’t really strike me as anything so getting some streaks in it i don’t care. But after scrubbinb the entire front side of the bag i wipe the moisture with a towel and it looked brand new! It may take a few times to get the dirt out. Took me about 2-3 times to fully scrub the dirt out.
But i just decided to add this as a suggestion since it doesn’t seem that anybody else has tried oxyclean.
OH and BTW there’s no color bleeding. You can rub it as hard as you want and there was no bleeding for me.
Good luck everyone
I highly recommend cleaning toki bags with baby wipes.
In case of wrinkles, wet area and then blow dry (not too close). I really helps!
I’ve Scotch Gaurded the new Carnival and Eco Mondo prints and there was no color bleeding.. just an FYI
Hi, I’m new to this blog and wish I came across it a year ago! My question is can I use more than one Scotch Guard product on my gioco bianco bag? Specifically the fabric protector and the water/ mildew repellent SG? and can anyone recommend a good leather protector/ water repellent for the leather parts? THANKS!
got some chocolate stains on my ciao bag…what should I use to clean it?
someone from work splashed COKE on my l’amore (he is lucky to still be retaining all his arms and legs lol)
i am extremely glad i had sprayed it :/
but it came off
i have to disagree with the “do not spray the leather parts” though, most protector sprays are made for leather as well as fabric, i used one that is meant for shoes but multi-purpose
HEEEELP!!..
how do i keep my hello kitty white print clean?..is it leather??
i got tomato sauce on it already!!…im SOO SAD!!!=(
floho- I would try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. That thing works wonders. It might take some elbow grease to get it out though, tomato sauce is pretty tough. Good luck!
is there anything to spray on it like the spray scotch guard?
is that good for the white leather parts on the hello kitty ones??
I received my pirata zucca in the mail through ebay the other day and the bag is a little squished and wrinkled from being in the packaging. Is there an easy way to smooth out the wrinkles and bends without ironing?
so its OKAY to spray scotch guard on the leather straps?
i just got my eco mondo graziosa bag the other day, and immediately bought scotch gaurd and sprayed it, my only problem is that only one of the leather bits on the bottom now looks like it has moisture damage, every other piece is fine, i wiped off any S.G. that went on to the leather, its just that one piece, ive tryed wiping it with a baby wipe, moist paper towel, when its wet it looks fine, but then it just drys and looks like crap again. do you think maybe they forgot to treat that piece at the factory??? is there any kind of product i can put on it to make it look better?

I bought a bag and the seller threw in a free one, but she told me it was a little damaged, but I took it anyways. It has a stain, made by her brand new black jeans. The area is quite large, do you think I should use Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser or something else?
Here is a pic: http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p257/StarryLuffzz/Kawaii/ back.jpg
Thank you in advance!
My tokidoki bag had dirt and jean stains on it. Toothpaste worked like a charm!
hi, my bestfriend was writing all over my things in sharpie, and he thought my tokidoki wallet was my cheap 5$ hello kitty wallet and wrote all over it. i’ve tried woolite, and it got some of the stains out, but theres still enough left to see what he wrote. i was wondering if there was anyway i could get out the sharpie.
Chessie-
A google search suggests hairspray on the sharpie stains. Make sure to test a small corner to see if it will take the design off with it :X Someone else also suggested dry erase cleaner.
Hope it helps!
Hey everyone!!
I haven’t posted for a while however, from what i’m reading i might have a few helpful suggestions.
1. for the stains inside the bag on the nylon, the same thing that i suggested before, Oxy clean spray bottle. It worked amazingly on my Citta Bocce. I use this little purse as my makeup purse and i tend to switch to different bags after a while. I had a lot of make up stains inside and what i did was flip it inside out, and sprayed it with oxy clean. I let it sit for 10 mins and simply scrubbed it with a sponge and warm water and BAM! just like brand new!! =D I personally don’t trust the Magic Erasers because i feel like the concentration of the detergents are higher than others and may damage my purses also, i’m not sure but it almost seems as though it may contain some sort of bleech in it too… i could be wrong but OXY does the trick and i trust it with all my love for Tokidoki! =D
2. about protecting the leather on the Le Sportsac bags, just buy a leather protectant from a shoe store because it’s the same material and same application instructions as scotch guard. Don’t worry if it goes on to the Nylon, it won’t affect it.
3. Wrinkles? there are two ways i can think of. (1) you either wash it and let it hang dry or (2) steam it with a steaming iron. If you don’t have a steaming iron DO NOT use a regular iron as it may burn the Nylon!!!!!!! If you ony have a regular iron, cover the bag with cotton fabric such as a T-shirt and then iron it to prevent the bag from burning. The last thing you want are holes in your beautiful bags!!!!! =D
I hope this helps! let me know how it goes!! gluck!
Much love,
Sayu
To CHESSIE
your best friend is terrible for doing that. sorry for what happened but try my suggestions for it… >_
Hi guys..
I spilled some soup on my bags, and now it stinks of it.
Does anybody know if I can use oxyclean to take out the smell?
Thank you!
i read on tPF that you can actually put your bag in a pillowcase and throw it in the washing machine under GENTLE CYCLE. I havent tried it though but seeing as i JUST recieved a vacanze Goccio
i heard that Shout works since the associate at Le Sport Sac told us. I wasnt sure if he was telling us how to wash my friend’s white toki doki bag or just all TokiDoki bags in general. I’m not sure and hesistant about it.
What do you think?
AND how do i clean it with Shout if it does work.
hey. anyone have any bleeding when they scotch guarded their l’amore or op bags? i want to know before i do it!
I have a l’amore bag and put scotchguard many times, it never bled.
Wrinkles – Try hanging your bag in the bathroom on a hook or the towel rack, turn the shower on as hot as it will go with no fan or ventilation (completely close up your bag in the room) and let the steam smooth out the wrinkles. Try it for 15-20 minutes and see if it helps. If not, try longer. I have done this often with clothing as well.
FYI: Don’t actually put the bag IN the shower. Hang it OUTSIDE the shower.
Omg. I’ve tried every thing suggested on this page (magic eraser, oxyclean, clorox wipes) and NOTHING is working to get a gel-ink pen mark off my Famiglia tokidoki bag! I’m getting so frustrated…
Also, I bought an authentic Adios bag second hand for ridiculously cheap ($5 cheap) but its FILTHY…
Any other advice on how to clean these precious bags?????
LiAnn… i dont know if i am giving u a good advice.. but i have done it to my Trasporto Stellina… i’ve been using it for few years…. a lot of jeans marked, dirt on it… and it get so dirty… one day i just lost control and threw it into the washing machine. came out all the mark and stuff is gone.. but the *leather* part is scratch.. not badly but noticable if look into closely…. i also use the shout gel on all heavy marked.
I have had amazing results with Oxiclean. My bag is from 2007 and someone spilled beer on it at a bar. I thought it was destroyed. I used plain oxiclean but I diluted it with twice the recommended about of water. The beer stain is gone and it looks brand new.
Hi all =)
Is it okay to Scotch-guard the inside of your Tokidoki purse/bag? I just got a new Bacio Portafortuna and bought Scotch-guard. How do you Scotchguard your Tokidokis?
Also, I’ve had my Tutti Campeggio for about a year and a half now. I love it; it’s been my everyday bag. I’ve kept it fairly clean but never Scotch-guarded it. The back has gotten a bit dirty where it brushes against the side of my upper thigh. I’ve used the Magic Eraser (repeatedly, letting it dry for a bit in between) and the Tide Pen on it and it has lightened a bunch. However, it’s still not that beautiful white. Is there anything else I can do to it that might bring it back to white a little bit better? Right now it’s a faint light brown.
I’ve been reading about Woolite, Oxyclean, and Shout Gel… but I haven’t really found detailed instructions on how to use those products, how saturated to get the bag, and how to properly remove (all?) of the product afterwards. As you know, the inside of my Tutti Campeggio is dark purple, and it’s hard to separate the fabric (especially on dirty corners/by the black edges), and the last thing I want to do is have the purple bleed through.
Any advice would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!
Hey everyone! I have the tokidoki euro 80′s vinyl bag and the white is starting to get dirty from use & from clothing dyes rubbing it. I’ve used baby wipes, make up removing wipes & clorox wipes but it won’t do much. I read about about oxi clean but wasn’t sure if it’s okay on vinyl.
What have you all done with vinyl bags to restore them?
Thanks!
You can respond to my email too-

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! i have a magie belt bag, i went out one night with a pen in my bag and it seems like the ENTIRE pen burst and leaked into the inside of my bag, its everywhere and im afraid to do anything. Also, it looks like the color is bleeding a little bit on the outside. i would still use it if the pen ink didnt rub off on EVERYTHING in my purse. i love this bag! please help!!!!!!!!!
tips on hello kitty vinyl bags? just bought the white boston bag and not sure whether to spray it because generally those kind of products are not meant for painted vinyl (sorry if this has already been answered, i scanned through)
interested in what to do with the 80s vinyl too because i just got it in a wallet
also if it is any help i have waterproof sprayed the following prints (inc. the leathers) without any problems with colour running: originalprint, citta, citta rosa, pirata, blk cammo, olive cammo, l’amore
Thanks for all the advice guys!
After reading about OXY working really well, I looked under the counter to see what we had here.
First off, I have a 2008 Eco Mondo bag. It’s beautiful, I love it to death! My dear mother brought it back to me from Las Vegas when she and my dad went.
Anyways, enough about me.
Well, all we had under the counter was Resolve: Triple OXY ADVANCED. Yes, the Carpet Stain Remover!
So, I tried putting a little on a rag and scrubbing, and it did all right so I kept that up but it wasn’t doing as much as I wanted it to.
So I actually followed the directions. I sprayed the part of my bag I wanted cleaned, left it on there for 5 minutes, came back, scrubbed it with a warm rag, and BOOM! BEAUTIFUL!
This doesn’t make your colors bleed and it doesn’t harm the bag in any way that I’ve seen so far.
And it works sooo well. I can’t even tell you how much dirt was on that bag.
I’m still in the process of spraying and scrubbing though. It’s taking more than one spray session to get it completely clean.
But yeah, I hope this helps anyone! Thanks for reading!
hey guys
i need some help here. i got a geometric girl sorisso for christmas and i absolutely love it. i use it all the time and now some of the white areas are turning grey/black from rubbing against my leather jacket and black jean jacket, and also from just getting dirty. im rlly nervous about cleaning it and i rlly dont want anything to happen to it. i tried just using a wet ones wipe on it but it didnt help much. what can i use that will get the black out without making the colors run or change??
oh yeah i didnt spray it with scoth guard or anything like that idk if that will make a difference
anyone??
Danielle – What about giving the suggestions in this post and the many suggestions already posted in the comments here a try?
I know this is out of left field, but for us painters and artsy folks with tokidoki bags: use PINK SOAP. Yes the very same stuff you use to clean your paintbrushes will get your tokidoki bag to looking like new!
Apply the pink soap to the spots you need to clean up, and take a terry cloth towel soaked with warm water and go to town in circles, using a damp terry cloth towel to wipe up the suds and grime (so you don’t keep scrubbing dirt in circles) every so often. If you have to, use a soft toothbrush or a nailbrush to get at the really tough marks!
It’ll get your bag to new in no-time. Perfect for us ninnies who forgot to ScotchGuard our bags!
I just used Lydia’s concoction of two parts water per recommended mixture of oxiclean and it worked fabulously. I scrubbed with a new dish sponge with a scrubby side. I just cleaned my Inferno Stellina, my Geometric Girl Ragazza, my Vacanze Zucca, and a regular LeSportSac Squeak hobo bag. None of them look absolutely brand new, but a definite improvement. The Stellina was just starting to get a bit dirty on the back (I sprayed with scotchgard before use), but the Ragazza and the Zucca had a few spots that were noticeably dark from dirt. Those bags hadn’t been treated with scotchgard. I’m going to treat them as soon as they dry and once I determine I’ve gotten enough dirt off. The Squeak bag was absolutely filthy, and I’m really glad I managed to get it as clean as I did.
Has anyone ever cleaned their bags on a routine basis without fading over time? I have a Tutti Gioco that I have scotchgarded, but I’m still afraid to carry it because I don’t want it to get dirty! Just curious if anyone has experience cleaning their bags once a month or so to keep them looking new. Thoughts?
Oh, and does cleaning a bag appear to lessen the effectiveness of a scotchgard treatment? Just curious that if I clean my bags on a regular basis, if I should scotchgard them more often to compensate.
has anyone tried tuff stuff on their bags??
