Pictures and Report from the Yoyamart NYC tokidoki Signing Party
So last night I went to the tokidoki signing party at Yoyamart in NYC that ran from 7pm - 10pm. I forgot how much of a mission it is to get to NYC from NJ by train + PATH train on the weekends, so I didn’t make it there until nearly 8pm. The store was packed with people, and there was a line to get in waiting outside - not as bad of a line as I feared there would be though, and it moved reasonably fast. Fortunately Kristina was running almost exactly as late as I was, so we had no trouble finding each other as planned, and we got to hang out and talk tokidoki and even trade bags (yay!! I am so happy with our trade!!) while waiting on line. We also got to meet pychobeauty who was coming out of Yoyamart right as we were finally getting in. Once inside it was pretty hard to move or see what was for sale, but I did get a look at a few tokidoki t-shirts, jewelery, New Era hats, and toys (Sandy, Bastardino, Poplettina, the Adios and Ciao Ciao “Til Death Do Us Part” set, Sahara 8 inch qee, and Moofia blind boxes). They were giving away free Bastardino and tokidoki x Onitsuka tiger stickers, so Kristina grabbed us a set of each. We weren’t early enough for the tokidoki posters though, sadly they were all gone when we arrived.
Kristina dove into the crowd to take photos of the custom tokidoki baby crib (!!) that was on display in the store - it has the same print from the moofia and lattes all-over print t-shirts and hoodies on it (price: $5,000). You can see photos of it in her set of photos below. And thankfully, reader Cleofe sent in photos of the upcoming tokidoki x STRANGEco toy collaborations that are coming up, because we couldn’t get close enough. You can see them in the third set of photos below - Adios and Ciao Ciao plush toys, a set of Gatto Spinoso vinyl toys (I am SOOO excited for them - and it looks like a new white cactus kitty character will be appearing as a counterpart to Gatto Spinoso - both are SO CUTE!), and a bunch more Bastardino-like cactus friends vinyl toys, all in different colors with different faces.

oh wow..it looked fun! a room full of tokidoki bags lol. i wonder when those adios & ciaociao plushies will come out..they’re so cute! =]

Yeah, it was fun to see so many people with tokidoki bags in one room! The plush toys are coming out in November or December of this year.

I was there too! I missed you and the others (thought I would be better at recognizing people). I got there about 7:15pm and didn’t leave til 11:30pm! Thanks for sharing all the pic and details! I posted about my experience in the new TD forum

johnathan - I recognize that jacket, I remember seeing you there! I wonder if I actually got anyone besides Kristina’s face in a photo… so far I have the back of Diana’s head a few times and jonathan from the neck down. :p

Any idea when the new collaborations are coming out, really excited about the Adios and Ciao Ciao plush toys, Gatto Spinoso vinyl toys and the bastardinos. I can’t wait, just wondering if they said a time frame?

Diana - Yes, post them! I have a feeling that your back must have been to us the whole time, because even after seeing your pics, I still don’t remember seeing you there. Hopefully there will be a next time soon!

can anybody confirm for me the size of the vinyl cactus kitty and set of cactus dogs? the kittys look larger - are they the same size as the bastardino/polpettina vinyls released before (like in 2006 or whatever?) and the cactus dog sets are smaller? or what? I am wondering if the cactus dogs are smaller that maybe they will be a blind box series???? anyone know? anyone?!!!!!!

tokipoki those look like boxes for polpettina (pink cactus dog) and sabochan… but i’m just guessing.

pychobeauty - It was good meeting you too! I wish I had gotten there as early as you did.
hazelnut - I have heard that the cactus dogs will be released as a blind box series. I’m pretty sure you’re right about the sizes too, but I couldn’t get close enough to be sure.
tokipoki - hazelnut is right, those were boxes of polpettina and sabochan vinyl toys, nothing new.

Hehe I finally got someone’s face in a photo! I see you - you must have gotten there a lot earlier than us because we were waaay over by the cash register/water table area when I took that one. I’m hoping there is another NYC signing sometime in a place that has more room to move around in so that it’s easier to meet people.

SAturday was well worth the wait!!!!! Simone is not only a great artist, but such a hottie and soooo kind- such a sweetheart. Each person who came up to him for a signing he immediately thanked for waiting in line- what a gentleman!!!
Amongst the group of us, Simone literally took out 30 mins to sign whatever we had and to talk to us without any rush. He spoke of his love for his mama, pinky his cat who acts like a dog, and his upcoming designs-like the vinyl record earrings his gf had on!!! Simone if that relationship doesn’t work out - Call me!!!

I agree … I totally hope there’s another NY event!! Yah me and my sis got there at like 4:30 but there was no one else around so we went walking for a bit and returned near 6:00 and just waited until 7.
heatherette … u got to speak to him for 30 minutes?! wow … I got like not even 5 minutes with him. You’re super lucky! I wanted to chat with him longer but I didn’t want to monopolize … lol. Heck what am I talking about … I wouldn’t even have known what to say to him. I just told him how it was such a pleasure to finally be able to meet him and I told him I thought he was great. Usually the words “i love you” come out of my mouth whenever i meet a celeb but not this time … I didn’t want Kaori to be like grrr … lol
