A Sanrio employee has been nice enough to leak some more tokidoki for Hello Kitty info to us: at the end of this month is when tokidoki x Hello Kitty willl be released into stores. There will only be 4 USA company owned stores that have it, and they are: San Francisco Center, Times Square, Momoberry in Los Angeles, and Ala Moana. Each store will receive very limited quantities. Also, the tokidoki for Hello Kitty necklace that Simone has been wearing is a USA exclusive item, which is why is it not on the Sanrio Japan website’s list of collaboration items. Our worker does not know how limited the quantities for this necklace will be, but thinks that it will probably also only be at those four USA Sanrio stores.
UPDATE: The manager of the Sanrio Retail Operations department in SF, CA has confirmed all of this info in the comments section of this post, EXCEPT for one thing: the necklace that Simone has been spotted wearing will not be available at all and was a promotional item only!! 
I guess that this means that Tara got herself a true collector’s item! There is still debate over this though – read all of the comments on this post for more info.

Oooh I’ll definitely be checking out the Times Square store at the end of the month ^__^ I think I want a cosmetics bag and umm … whatever else screams out “buy me!!”

Me wonders how much the necklace will be. SO happy that the necklace is going to make it here since that’s the one item I really want. I don’t particularly care for the Japan stuff except for the plush. I’m going to go to Japan in June so I’m thinking of waiting until then to try. It’s a little bit of a gamble, but my heart is not absolutely set on getting a plush. Even though it’s freakin’ cute.
And when I went to Hawaii, I did manage to get a Caramella and an Avventura in Foresta even though it was in January. So who knows, right?
If you call the stores, they will put you on a list for the Tokidoki x Hello Kitty stuff. I emailed Sanrio asking if they’d put the stuff online because I’m from Canada, & they told me to phone the stores that will carry it directly.
I called, & I’m #8 on the list at the San Fransisco store.
I work less than 10 minutes from Times Square!! Hope they have that necklace
bridget – i called that store and was told that they will only do in-store purchases and call the people on the list to come in to buy them that same day. maybe you should call back and confirm and let us know what they said.
I just called San Francisco Center and spoke to Marnie and I’m lucky number 13 ! I asked if they would be doing phone orders and she said no . She stated that people will be called when the shipment arrives they may be able to put some things aside for you until closing that day however no phone orders ! They said their shipment should arrive at the end of this month or the first of March . Bridget I’m not sure how will it work if you are not in the San Francisco area . I don’t know if that will be policy for all of the stores or just San Francisco only . Maybe people should call the Sanrio stores if they do not live in these areas and inquire about phone orders . I know for me it will be over an hour to get to San Francisco !

Everyone, I manage the Sanrio Retail Operations department in SF, CA.
It is true: only four Sanrio locations will carry the product & most likely the product will not be available for sale in the stores until mid-late March. All stores have been instructed to start a Pre-order waiting list. However, we have not yet provided them with company details on how to assist customers living far away (since product will not be available via sanrio.com). We will most likely be instructing all stores to ok Phone Orders provided all valid paperwork is faxed/emailed to the store (usually credit card copy, front and back, driver’s license copy and form stating what you’re buying). Shipping costs will be extra. Please be aware that there may be a limit to the qty of each style you can purchase. I will keep you posted.
Also, the necklace is NOT and will NOT be available at any time. I just checked with the marketing department. This was a LIMITED EDITION item specifically made for promotional purposes only.

To me if the necklace is not sold then they should never have advertised/shown it on sites at all. Especially the Tokidoki site that opens up with this image. Then to state it will be a U.S.A. exclusive …..
I would like to know what purpose does it serve to not make a necklace that certainly is in demand. Seems to me a bad marketing decision for sure. They take the one item that is probably not only the most in demand but also the most affordable of the collaberation and not sell it. How can this company make people believe they are interested in their customers when they do something like this.
This is one time I wish there were counterfitters selling this item. It would serve the company right to have counterfits being sold in large quantities so they could see how much they lost in sales….
i am going to try to use the charms from a couple of different pendents to make a necklace that is similar. just won an auction on ebay that had alot off extra star charms that came as a bonus. will post pictures when i am done. my daughter already owns the hello kitty charm/pendent so it shoouldn’t be to hard to make one that looks like the one that simone has.

hi! i’m from Japan and just wanted to let you guys know that i read in the Ichigo-shinbun(translated as ‘Strawberry Newspaper’ , you can buy at the Sanrio Shops in Japan) they are going to sell the necklace but not sure when.
it says it was first made only for promotion but decided to sell it since it was well-recieved.
I’ve been calling Ala Moana to confirm this but they’re not answering!

At the very least they could have stated in order to purchase the necklace you must purchase one of the other items as well…..
Or if they were really smart if they stated it was a promotion then they should have placed it in only a few of the handbags as a surprise and allow a few fortunate people who purchased an item to see if they could get one…..

On the dl; there will be apparel (Ts, sweatshirts) coming in late spring/early summer – Tokidoki & Hello Kitty in a new print…there will also be vinyl toys. No bags.

hmm interesting about the shirts… but to go back on the necklace… the post that barry made… the Ichigo-shinbun(strawberry newspaper) does in fact talk about the necklace being sold… in fact one Sanrio home office employee (who i cannot reveal) did confirm seeing it in an article from that magazine too and said it was US exclusive… so… it seems that there still is hope for it to be released (still not officially confirmed though, keep your hopes up) three people cant be wrong right? O_o?
Will the apparel & toys be limited edition as well? Maybe the necklace will be released along with this stuff.
i just called the Times Square store about a notification list for the collaboration and the girl was very rude with one word answers to my questions
she said there was no list. then after 3 more questions she said no list, yet. at least i got some info. very disappointed with how rude she was.
I just spoke with with Sanrio Inc Sr Vice President of Wholesale & Retail Ops Planning, as well as a Sanrio Tokyo Product Planner – this necklace will NOT be coming to the USA for sale. Yes, Strawberry News mentions “stay tuned” for details about the necklace possibly being re-manufactured in Japan for sale. However, the US has no plans to re-sell this promotional necklace.
Sometime late next year, more products will be sold (50 or so items) in the same design in Japan – most items will be stickers, stationery….
For the toys and apparel, this is a US licensed deal. No necklace, but some very cool items.

i’m #22 in SF. going overboard, i did ask for them to put a couple pieces of some of the handbags and little bags away for me. and yes to confirm, you do need to be there the DAY of them calling or they will put it back out on the floor.
