The tokidoki Mimobot Series
Today marks the official announcement of the tokidoki mimobot collection of designer USB flash drives designed by Simone Legno and produced by mimoco. The release date will be April 18th at New York Comic Con! Simone will be there signing at mimibot’s booth #857 on Saturday from 2-4pm only - he will sign one customized vimobot vinyl art toy for the first 100 people to sign up. Mimoco will be opening up for preorders on their website starting today, and orders will begin shipping April 18th.

As with all mimobot series, the tokidoki mimobot Series will be available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB capacities, high-speed USB 2.0, and compatible with Mac, Windows, and Windows Vista’s ReadyBoost technology. The entire series will be preloaded with bonus digital content, ranging from icons and screen savers to rich media, which also works in Mac and Windows environments.

Hey all, glad you like the new tokidoki for MIMOBOT designs - we’re super excited to be working with Simone! I’ll work on getting some images of these guys in their ProtoHoodies up for you, tammy, and Aya, the content will be the same on all - some of it will be exclusive, some won’t, but most of the icons and wallpapers (and the soundBytes) should be.

i remember i was in disbelief when my friend said he spent $50+ for a 1GB thumb drive (mimobot star wars series). but now i think i would shell out $50+ for a tokidoki mimobot! this will have to wait until payday..

i was just wondering, is there a set number of preorders/products? like is this those things where once they sell out they are sold out forever? i really want to get a tokidoki one for me and there is a cute darth vader usb guy that my boyfriend would absolutely LOVE but it’s sold out
so once the tokidoki ones sell out, will there be more? or is it over once they are sold out? sorry, lots of questions lol

LMJ - The second one - tech-wise, it’s no different than a standard USB drive, with the notable exception of the tokidoki design and content.
Bianca - yeah, there’s a set number - generally, we make between 2,000 and 5,000 of any design, and once they’re gone, you’re pretty much stuck with eBay (although check out Tenacious Toys, they may still have a couple of Darths… otherwise, you might have to settle for Boba Fett
)
Once the tokidoki ones sell out, in theory they’re done; we may do some different designs if the demand is there, but these guys are limited-edition, gone when gone

Tara d. - hopefully we’ll have 8gb versions early this summer, in the meantime it’s just 1, 2 and 4
Krisha - not entirely sure… in the past, we’ve had signings with Mori Chack (Gloomy Bear), and basically it was a first-come first-serve, lunch-line kind of thing. Chances are that’s what we’ll do this time - although I’m open to suggestion
Our NYCC schedule isn’t finalized in terms of date and time; we’ll send out a newsletter about that a week before the show, I think

it would be nice if more than 100 people could “sign up”. either that or maybe let a few die-hard Tokidoki fans sign up in advance.
well i don’t think i can make any suggestions that are do-able but i might as well say what’s on my mind!
for instance, i got tickets to go and i know the convention doors open at 10am. but i’m fretting about HOW much earlier i should show up before they open. i, and i’m sure other Tokidoki fans, would be so upset if we didn’t make it on the list even after say, showing up 2 hours before the doors open and that not being early enough.

Hey all, I be back!
Krisha - wouldn’t hurt to sign up for the newsletter if you want - that’s our first line of news, generally. It’s also an automatic entry to win a tokidoki bag, hand-drawn vimobot (our vinyl toy) done by Simone, and one of the new mimobots. I’m working on a ticketing method for the signing - it’ll be from 2-4 on Saturday the 19th. I’ll try to keep everyone posted on how to get your ticket.

anney - we ship all over the world from our website. It’s only preorder right now, but preorders will be the first ones sent out (naturally). There’s also some retailers in France we work with, but I’m not sure how many of them will carry the tokidoki series… maybe Collette?

That’s the thing with Star Wars - there’s always some character who absolutely needs to get made! Of course Fett was one… lotsa people want to see Yoda, and Wicket, and Palpatine, and 3P0. We’ve got more SW lines coming out later this year, so keep an eye out

mimodan- I am thinking about taking the trip(i Live in Florida) up to NYCC to go to the con and to hopefully get on the list to meet Simone and get my mimobot signed…When do you have to sign up for the list…I am guessing you will have to sign up friday for sat? Any additional info on this you can give us?

i’m still torn– i definitely want to buy one tokidoki mimobot, but i don’t know if i should go with the 1GB or 4GB. i would go with the 1GB because it’s cheaper. but i also want the thumb drive to be functional, so getting a 4GB would be better in that sense. but i know any normal 4GB thumb drive would be wayyy cheaper elsewhere. so should i suck it up and get the 4GB (for both design & functionality)? or should i just get the 1GB (and accept that it’ll sit somewhere unused for the most part)?
mimodan– would you by any chance be able to give us a number of how many have been pre-ordered?

Hey hey people! The NYCC signing looks like it’s going to be 40 people - he’s going to be at the booth from 2-4 on Saturday the 19th. We’re going to take signups Friday on a first-come basis - you sign up for the list, we’ll give you a sticket (sticker ticket
). Not sure about signing other things, that’ll be up to him. There may be a few more details as the time approaches, but that’s the plan right now.
Krisha - yeah, we’ll be bringing a good number of the tokidoki ‘bots to the booth with us to sell - can’t have Simone without tokidoki product, eh?
cha - totally up to you, I’d say just consider if you’d be using it or not, and what you’d be storing on it. For daily life papers, spreadsheets, etc., 1GB should do fine, but the 4GB can more easily hold multimedia (or, if you’re like me and work off a flash drive, something like ThunderbirdPortable with all your emails). As for pre-orders, I can’t really say how many, but they’re about 65% 1GB, 30% 4GB, and a handful of 2GB.

wow, the information went from the first 100 people to the first 40 people (i just saw the email about only the first 40 people and then came here).
i’m really glad i got a Weekend pass instead of just a Saturday pass.
