I didn’t have time to make an entry of my own, but I really enjoy looking at everyone else’s. I totally agree that Tokidoki.it should post these winning entries on their blog!
Dissapointed that no pictures were chosen at all as well….You think that they would have picked ONE picture considering that Tokidoki goes by the printed image rather then video… If this was the case why didn’t they just say send in a video to You Tube and be done with it…..
To me I would rather have seen photos then the You Tube thing…. Sometimes less is more in my opinion… But to each his own…. The first video was nice and seemed to be rather a little too professionally done …… Other then that…. I lost interest in the others when I heard the Mario music…
Next time tokidoki has a contest I hope they do not state that you can submit a few things like a video or picture if they have their mind already set on choosing only one ….. obviously You Tube…..
And to think it took all this while to judge this contest….give me a break….
P.S. This isn’t a knock about this site…This has always been a great site with integrity… But I haven’t the same feeling about the Tokidoki site that judged the contest…. They should have realized that some people aren’t into the video aspect and appreciate a photo image….

Sorry for the rant…but I felt it needed to be said on behalf of those that were duped into entering a contest with a picture when they had no chance at all to win…. Again, no knock on this wonderful site… This site just hosted the contest on behalf of Tokidoki… But it is in my opinion Tokidoki’s fault for stating the rules…. which in this case should have been “Send in your best video to You Tube for the contest… No photos will be accepted…”
..I don’t know about you…But I feel better now….. So go ahead and say sore loser or whatever… Better yet, make a video and put it on You Tube………

wow!! congrats everyone. i really liked and enjoyed your entry lyssa. you did such a great job. at first i didn’t understand why Dora was there until i saw the credits………..lol made sense after.
Lol yeah…Dora was the only doll I could find about the same size as my tokidoki dolls…if i had more time i would’ve made a doll that looked like me but i think Dora did fine =) Glad you guys enjoyed it!

I don’t blame DON for being disappointed. 4 out of 5 winning entries being video just proves that the contest should have stuck to only accepting video entries like it originally stated. As DON said already, this isn’t directed towards tokidoki-blog or the winners AT ALL.
Maybe there should have been 2 separate contests for each art medium. But then again this problem always arises when photographs go up against other art mediums because it’s easier for most people to see the effort put into video clips, paintings, drawings, sculptures, etc. than seeing the effort in photo styling.
Also, as a photographer I knew I’d have unfair advantages and held back to play nicely/fairly. I now regret not using my full potential and resources. And again, that’s not directed towards any of the winners because I still stick to thinking there should have been 2 separate contests.
I also know some people interpreted this contest as “In real life, what would you actually do with the ball if you won it?” (other people, not me). So maybe there was some confusion there.

Wow sorry you were turned off by the Mario Bros. music I chose. I was trying to use something that was fun-sounding and cute. It took me days to hand draw everything and then color it in, scan it and turn it into a video. Please don’t make it sound like no effort was made because I put a lot into it. I’m sorry that you didn’t win but I also don’t feel it’s necessary to put me or anyone else down.
The contest was a very nice idea and gesture on behalf of both tokidokiblog and tokidoki.it.

I’ve been a lurker on the blog…but really feel I have to chime in here.
DON…first, you say no photograph was chosen. I guess you completely ignored the fact that a photograph of that awesome handmade felt display created by Chanel A. So that kind of hurts your argument right off the bat.
If I remember correctly, the contest originated as a youtube video contest. Pictures were added as a concession due to some people requesting it. I don’t think its fair to say that pictures were ignored (hell…as I said above a picture won!). You can also look at some of the youtube videos which were simply pictures turned into a video (if you “can get past the Mario music” you would see it was done extremely well by the #2 winner TokidokiAngel. C-U-T-E drawings!)
And then questioning the judging…come on. That’s really classy. tokidoki donated a bunch of prizes and took time out of their schedule to judge a contest. You had an opportunity to directly show tokidoki how much you appreciate their product. “Thank you” would be nicer than scoffing at them. I donno…maybe its just me?
Also…don’t be sorry for the rant…cause I personally don’t think you are. You want to be called a sore loser? I don’t think anyone here wants to…but you make it real hard for them not to by posting a message like yours.
Krisha…I don’t understand the call for 2 separate contests. You and DON seem to think your entries were so much better than any of the winners…and it was only the video factor lost if for you. What in the world gives you that idea? It couldn’t possibly be that the videos were fun, entertaining, cute and creative? As far as you “holding back” with your entry, maybe that is what lost the contest for you. However, noone asked you to hold back. I’m sure none of the winners “held back.” Alyssa Y. definitely didn’t hold back and took the gold. Alyssa…your video was great! I wish I had the patience for stop motion. Krisha, the fact is you were judged against all other entries and came up short. Better luck next time.
Bottom line is, this was a contest. You all knew there would be winners and losers. The contest asked for you to be creative…and I don’t think anyone can say that the winners weren’t. Ask yourself…did you have fun creating your entry? If you did, you already won.

but it seems that the rules here is you can only make positive comments. you are only allowed to say good things. if you don’t like something, keep it to yourself.
Yuu–Noone says you can’t criticize, but simply is saying something is lame criticism? I totally agree with kristi that the fact that you didn’t enter doesn’t absolve you from being jealous and a hater. It just makes your comment silly. Basically it reads ” your entry was questionable, compared to the nothing I created and entered.” What exactly is it “questionable” compared to? TokidokiAngel’s entry was way cool–the art was super cute, and the story stuck to the theme of the contest. Her video was great in my opinion, the opinion of others on the blog and the opinion of the judges.
You know–with attitudes of some very petty people on this blog, we will probably never see another contest again. Oh well. Great job to all the winners!! You are all crazy talented.
