Reader Sai just let me know that to celebrate the 25th Anniversery of My Little Pony, Hasbro asked special designers to create their version of the wonderful icon to be auctioned off in NYC. Here is the My Little Pony that Simone Legno designed:

The “MY LITTLE PONY PROJECT: 25 Ponies for 25 Years” program is an international collection of 18″ MY LITTLE PONY figures designed by popular culture’s influential people and organizations. The program was created not only to be a celebration of the whimsical nature of the brand, but also as a way to support Give Kids The World Village, a non-profit that strives to provide magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses.
So cute!!!
Oh my gosh.. the moment I saw that I thought I had to have it.. I loved My Little Pony!! but… alas, not to be mass produced I guess?
thats so cool !
Wow that is cute. I trade my Tokidoki dunny for one of those instead ^_^.
Mollie- I understand how you feel, I loved my little pony… but i definately can’t afford it
OH GOD, if it was mass produced I’d buy one…but starting $500 to bid….dang…no way. It’s SO cute & I love my little pony! The eyes kinda scare me though ahhahhahahha.
i was like, “oooh My Little Pony & Toki” then i scrolled down to the price tag $500!!! OMG…
when i was a kid, i wasn’t really into barbies. my little pony was MY THING. i had hundreds of them. when i was older my mother gave them all away to a needy family with a little girl who had no toys. although it was a nice gesture, she didn’t even save one of them because she is a witch.
i would kill for one of those.
Okay I don’t know about anyone else but the soul-less lack of eyes are creeping me out. I’m surprised Simone didn’t just paint some on, instead he just pretended like it wasn’t a pony at all and just made it a canvas for some typical Tokidoki characters. I’m a little disappointed he didn’t make it look more like an actual my little pony that just had Tokidoki art on it.. Instead it might as well have been painted on anything else. He totally didn’t work the pony into the art at all.
Tazmin I was just about to say that it was a demon pony that has no eyes xD.
ahh the eyes ARE scary! Maybe its supposed to be like a Daruma…you draw in the eyes yourself. yeah…that must be it….
Hey Simone, it’s my 25th this year too. Can I have one?
omg!! i used 2 play with my little ponies all the time when i was little!! the eyes r kind of creepy though…..
WHAAAAAAAA?
i love it! even though it has scary eyes.
The eyes don’t bother me, I love it and all it’s zebra glory, lol. Now I just have to win the lottery this week in order to have money to bid……
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!! =) so cute!! but starting bid $500 >.
lol – I still have all my ponies from when I was a kid. I used to carry at least one with me EVERYWHERE. They were the only thing I liked other than Smurfs LOL.
I would love this one!!! I can’t believe you have to bid on it – 500$ to start – it’s just too bad that it’s so hard for people that actually WANT these things to GET them
frustrating! I just don’t understand- why not make this stuff more available…
0_0 it is adorable, but i really can’t afford $5oo my laptop that I recently bought was $600 LOL
if the pony was the size of a real pony I might bid.
happysmoke – LOL same here… that is one big figure hehehe Maggie -it’s my 25th this year too and I wouldn’t mind getting that as well.
haha happy! yeah, if i could ride it and feed it and pet it and love it i would gladly bid 500!
if it had eyes!
I wanted to see all the submissions to the auction to get a better perspective:
http://www.charityfolks.com/cfauctions/auction_search.asp?sr ch=sr&q=My+Little+Pony
I see now that when the mane was trimmed on the Tokidoki submission and the large eyes were left blank, it really diminished the “My Little Pony” attributes.
OMG! I WANT ONE!! LOL i used to love my little ponys omg i remeber my daddy buying me my first my little pony at toys r us that was soo much fun!
lol!
That’s so expensive.
Kinda creepy looking, maybe becuase of the eyes?
oh well, it it had eyes, it would be cuter ^^
I like the zebra-ness of it
awe…I luv…too bad I can’t afford to bid for charity…I loved playing w/my little ponies when I was a kid w/my bro’s G.I. Joe’s…& She-rah. LOL.
There’s a bunch of artist-designed ponies that are coming out, some mass produced, some not. Most of the artists have treated it this way; just using the body as a canvas. I kind of like the way it looks… I love this tokidoki pony!! I wish I could afford it too. Too bad it’s not one of the mass produced ones.. Did anyone see the giant sterling silver My Little Pony at SDCC?? My eyes popped out of my head when I saw it.
Adorable, even though the eyes scare me. I love the feet.
I’ve been keeping tabs on the MLP project for some time, and while I love the artist designed ponies (and have paid ridiculous amounts for urban vinyl in the past), I can’t get past that price tag. You could buy and entire tokidoki wardrobe for that!
I love the pink zebra in all its glory though. And I have the two SDCC MLP’s from this year and last year, so I’d love to add to the collection. *sigh*. The lottery is calling my name!
I like the yellow one with flowers the 10 year old designed. cute.
I have a custom designed My Little Pony from Simone
My bf gave Simone a blank MLP at SDCC 2008 and Simone drew it up just like this pony
I love the hoof on the with the blush. The pattern somehow attracts me.
omg this is so cute, i think im going to start collecting the pony toys, i used to as a little kid…
I found this a bit late, but I’m kind of surprised at people grumbling about the price tag on this thing. Done for charity, and a one-of-a-kind handpainted art piece from Simone?
Is this pony still for sale?
ahh..i remember that i used to be obsessed with my little ponies.i still have most of them in my closet.but $500 is a too much, even for 18″.my 4″ ponies were like $5 each.
and i know this is like a 2 year old entry, but i have an urge to write something
hey… its rlly cool.. makes me want to start my own collection… but it costs too much… :’(
