Reader Puasmommy was excited to let me know that this time, Hawaii was the first to receive the newest 2009 tokidoki bag print! She received an e-mail from Chic Icon in Koko Marina (Hawaii Kai) and they have 11 different bag styles of the new tokidoki Geometric Girl print. I really don’t like the new series of tokidoki bags. The leo print bags left much to be desired, and I think these ones are pretty weak too. Where are the cute and interesting scenes? This just seems to be a few select characters with a lot of mediocre filling.
I think this is really cute! I can’t wait to see it on the Amica so that I can see more of the print!

In some ways I have to agree about the level of detail in the print, but they are still fabulously cute. I liked the Leo bag because it was different and it reminded me of one of my earliest Tokidoki bags.
I like that there are more bag styles. I love the shape of the small messenger but to use it as a purse when you live in an urban area and take public transportation just doesn’t work — no zipper keeping prying hands out of the top (under the flap).

The ugly leather colour does it for me every time :S I miss Tokidoki/LeSportsac
i agree with mary.. what happened to the prints?!? lots of space and not enough of the characters.
Yeah, I guess that’s why I don’t like these prints. The previous series had coherent themes with lots of things happening in the scenes. These ones seem rather empty or boring when compared to a Carnival or a Eco Mondo. I also don’t like the brown leather – it’s too plain. I don’t find these as attention-grabbing as the older bags.
It was always fun to see what kind of theme the LeSportSac run was going to produce. I agree with the others that the bags nowadays just don’t seem as cohesive as they did before. Ah well, I guess just be glad that we had the LeSportSac run!
at first glance i thought it was a bootleg. i’m truly starting to think that my celebrazione is going to be my last tokidoki bag.

I am not diggin’ these new prints of TKDK bags, without the LeSportSac stuff written all over.. it is pretty hard to tell what is fake and what is real. I think we need a new “how to spot fakes” guide xD

I don’t like this print either but I do think it’s way better than the leo bags. I am also starting to think that my time with tokidoki (bags anyway) has come to an end.. although I hope that’s not the case, I hope the next one is more like the older bags with smaller themed characters.
I agree that this may not be Simone’s best work, but that’s no need to be all ‘I’m thinking that Simone is losing his touch’ and ‘This may be the time where I stop liking Tokidoki’ because although it isn’t my fave colours or print, I’d totally love to have these bags and I liked the Leo print. So stop whining, because maybe this print isn’t made for you, but other people will like it.
Zoe, I’m glad you like these new prints. I hope you buy a bag you’ll love and that you’ll get lots of use out of it. However, the fact that I and others here have stated that we don’t like them doesn’t mean we are whining or belittling Simone who I’m sure we all think is a wonderful artist (we wouldn’t come to a website called tokidoki-blog if we didn’t love his stuff), we’re just simply stating an opinion.
I agree with you whole-heartedly, Carmela. I adore Simone’s work and think he is a genius. I wouldn’t be on this page constantly if I didn’t think so. I didn’t like the Leo print, and Geometric Girl is my no means my favorite. But, I think that we have the right to voice our opinion, just as much as Zoe seems to think she has the right to repeatedly tell people what they should and shouldn’t say.
Zoe Zoe Zoe, one of the things I like so much about the community of commenters on this blog is that everyone is so nice, helpful, and able to state their opinions in a polite and respectful way. And that is exactly what is happening in the comments to this post – people are stating their opinions, which they fully have a right to, in respectful ways. I would therefore like to respectfully ask you to do the same, rather than attempting to police people’s (perfectly legitimate!) opinions.
i believe this print is already available at the tokidoki store in NYC on spring st. i work near there and was shocked to see that print and it open. i didn’t think it was opening till this upcoming weekend.
I think it’s super cute! I so want one. Can’t wait till it gets here in Kali. I’m happy cuz it comes with that new Qee that I wanted off the Leo print but I didn’t like Leo that much but this one looks super cute! I like all the pink. The only thing I don’t really like is the fact that the leather looks kinda dark and I think it would be cuter with a beige strap instead of a black one….but still cute. I love the stars on it! =)
This isn’t a bad print at all. It’s different, and has lots of pink in it which is girly, and fun! But what I really wish for more of are the Tokidoki girls! We need more of them on the bags : ) The Lesportsac collab had lots of them.
Serita, I never really liked the main girls – I just love all the smaller characters! But, I never realized that they were missing! You made a good point… I wonder where those ladies ran off to! I kinda miss them! :-p
It’s so great that Steph has provided us with this Tokidoki blog to express our opinions in a friendly and respectful manner. I have learned so much from all of you who post the latest news on Tokidoki.
It might be a good idea to express our support for Simone by contacting him at Simone@tokidoki.it and at the same time, we can also let him know what are favorite characters are and what we’re hoping he would consider for future designs

smoke_monster — I have to admit, I adore those girls over anything else, but the smaller characters are very cute for sure! It would be nice though to see them again one day! A lot of these newer prints have tons of the little characters, and you could just literally stare at your bag for awhile and discover new little things about it. The little guys are so fun cause there is always something going on with them.
But yes, hopefully we will see Tsuru and the HxC tear drop girls sometime soon!! ‘^__^’

Another disappointing print. Here’s hoping they look better in real life, because I really dig the “Marina” style yet neither the Leo or Geometric Girl really does it for me : ( Is there any other prints coming out?

Zoe Zoe Zoe why are you ALWAYS so rude to others who may not LOVE all of Simone’s work ? As I have stated before I’ve been with Tokidoki since 2006 and I do not love all of Simone’s work . How boring would this as well as other Tokidoki forums ( Which I happen to belong to ! ) be if we blindly love EVERYTHING else Simone did !
As an artist I think Simone would welcome HONEST feedback from all of his fans both new and old ! I haven’t seen you post here in the past as when this blog first started but the way you talk down to other members is both uncalled for and just plain rude !
I have to say that I did not love the Leo print when I first saw it posted on the website, but Macy’s Boston has them in now, and they are cuter in person than online. I still don’t love them (I’m not a big animal print person in general), but I would consider buying one. I’m hoping that I will feel the same about the Geometric Girl print.

i bought my geometric girl marina from chic icon on saturday and i love it! i love the pink/lavender colors, and the fabric seems softer than eco mondo/celebrazione

I think I like the leo print better than this one even if my favorite colors are pink and purple. I will have to see it in person to get a better opinion.

I probably will not purchase one of these unless there is a massive sale. I really dislike the the styles of the newer bags and they seem to look like knockoffs. With the ones before this, at least we had a Carezza. Eh, I don’t know. I am really hoping I like Discoteca. I love the colors. Please let it be for me

hey marie, they have a very small selection of shirts since the store is tiny (it took over the lesportsac shop on spring st.). i know they had the vegas shirt. i believe they also had the eco, lion, pappa, scooterino, & nancy. there may be a few others, but those are the ones i can remember for now.

When I heard geometric girl print, I thought the girls would be in the print!
Needless to say, I’m kind of disappointed. I was hoping for something Playground-esque.
Something about this print gives me too much of an 80s vibe. I think I’ll pass on this one.
the bags are cuter than leo, but the theme/scenery ones are better. the next few prints are the same still…just an A/O print….they are cute, but not eye catching like the old ones…hmph!

I hated leo, but the pink on this is drawing me in. 0_0 I’m a sucker for bright things.
I have been a voyeur to this blog for sometime now but this is my first time posting. I must say that I enjoy the dialogue here almost as much as the bags, it is quite colorful to say the least, heehee!
Anyhoo, I mostly carry more classic everyday bags like Fendi, Barneys, and Corinna +Foley but absolutely adore anime & Simone so I splured and purchased my first Tokidoki bag (Abbaraccio in Leo) and I am head over heels in love with it!! It is super cute in person, similar to D&G and the perfect size for short trips & lugging my MacBook (and accessories) to and fro the coffeeshop to write everyday! The photos don’t do this print justice, probably because it is difficult to capture the leopard spots and all of the characters. Also, of note to some of the other posters, the Tokidoki girls do appear on the Leo, on the backpack style in any case…..
I just got the email from JapanNLA about the Geo print and I must say the jury’s still out. Sadly the 20% off coupone JUST expired and in my opinion the girly pink ‘purples are cuter in theory, especially for those beyond the Clique books and junior high school hahaha, so I may just have to be an admirer and sit this one out!
