I think I would be embarrassed, I’ll just stick to my OG lovely bags until Tokidoki comes to their sences, The new ones look kind of round?! they look cardboard. lol

Why is everybody hating on the new bags? I’m going to carry my super cute new Pegaso and Stella Nera bags proudly. Why did you love Tokidoki bags in the first place? Because they’re expensive? I love them in spite of that. I’d carry my Toki bags if they cost $5. They are fun and colourful and make people smile (myself included). Just because the materials and the cost took a hit doesn’t mean the spirit of the brand is lost. For shame for snubbing this brand.

I think it’s a matter of preference. Personally, I’m not a fan of the new bags because the style doesn’t really gel with me. For me, it’s not a matter of price. Hell, I’d love to have a 5 dollar tokidoki bag that’s awesome. I’m glad that someone enjoys the new bags. :) Me, I’d rather take a pass and save my money for something else.

I bought a fantasma Incontro and I’ve been using it a lot. I really like the print, it’s nice and subtle. And I’m sure not embarrassed carrying it around. I still love tokidoki, and I’m sure more people out there love these new prints. I mean, did any one else notice when they sold out on tokidoki.it? I do miss scenery prints though :/ I know they come up with these prints like a year a head of time, so it kind of bums me out we wont be getting anything like that for a while, if ever again.

I think everyone has the right to be honest in the way they feel in regards to the new bags ! I won’t be buying any of these ! The reasons have been gone over before but lack of rainbow zippers , no qees , change of fabric , less bag styles in which to chosse from ! ( I mean why did Tokidoki discontinue both the Amica and the Carezza ! )

Tokidoki had promised lower prices due to the numerous but with the changes ( and lack of quality ! ) . Those ” promises ” of lower prices have not yet been realized . I think Simone as the creative force of Tokidoki would welcome everyone’s thoughts and feelings in regards to his work ! I have been a longtime Tokidoki fan and I haven’t bought a bag since Concerto Punk ! And as I had a sneal peek at Spring 2010 I can tell you that I will be passing on those too !

Does it make me or S.Bird any less of a Tokidoki fan ? I think not ! We ALL cannot love EVERYTHING Simone and Tokidoki create first of all you would be broke , and I don’t think it would be interesting if we blindly said we love everything Simone and Tokidoki do ! I mean everyone buys what they love right ? And I am not loving these new collections so I won’t be buying them ! I know that Tokidoki employees read the various Tokidoki blogs and forums so maybe they will get the message that more fans dislike them than like them ! Perhaps they will take that into account and make changes for upcoming lines !

I don’t think it matters if you like the new bags or not but it was kind of rude to say you would be embarrassed to carry them. It’s fine if you don’t want to carry them because you don’t like the way they look.

Rude to who?…..That’s how she feels, If she would be embarrassed, That’s her…..oh well. no need to attack someone for their personal feeling on things.

I dont care for the bags myself, That does not make me less a fan of the brand either.

Right on dmi ! EVERYONE has the right to thoughts and feelings on the new line of bags ! After all this is an open forum and Steph this forum’s creator has ALWAYS let us express our own thoughts ! Don’t get me wrong we are ALL fans of both Simone and his work . But if you don’t like something it is perfectly ok to express your feelings . Bev was expressing HER feelings on the new bags they might not be YOUR feelings but everyone is entitled this after all an open forum !

I have been a fan of Simone of both Simone and Tokidoki since the very start and I don’t have to love everything that comes from Tokidoki and Simone and guess what I don’t ! And neither does anyone else have to either . And if you are keeping track most fans are both unhappy and disappointed with the new line than those who like it . Perhaps Tokidoki will take notice that many fans are skipping the current collection in hopes of something better in the future ! ( Hello can be please get back to some scene prints ! ) And more choices in bag styles ! I don’t think it makes me or Bev any less of a Tokidoki fan for merely expressing and honest feeling without fear of other Tokidoki fans attacking US for not liking this newest collection of bags !

To me it just seems like saying you are embarrassed to carry the bags means you think anyone else carrying it should be embarrassed also (kind of like when someone carries a fake). Sorry I’m not trying to attack anyone on here and I agree everyone has a right to their opinion. I was just saying she could have worded it different like saying she didn’t like the bags and wouldn’t want to carry one. But it’s like what people are saying on the purse forum about all Tokidoki bags… that they would be embarrassed to carry anything Tokidoki or any kind of cartoon bags. It’s kind of like putting other people down that actually like the new bags. Sorry if you feel like I’m attacking any of you and sorry if I’m taking anything the wrong way. :)

I had the same problem. I never got more than 10% off from Karmaloop when I used the rep code. We tried it with my own and my husband’s account. The first order with rep code was only 10% off in both cases.

  25. Karen and Kinky… Hmm – me too! For awhile it was just 10% off for tokidoki new arrivals, but now it seems that the rep code only takes 10% off for ANY tokidoki purchases. It still gives you 20% off all other brands on the site though on your first purchase (and any purchase afterwards you make without signing in during checkout).

OMG I TAKE IT ALL BACK! I received my order from JapanLA with my Pegaso and Stellina Nera bags are they are HORRIBLE! The material is rough and cheap feeling. I’ve seen FAKE tokidoki bags that are nicer than these. I will NEVER buy another bag from Tokidoki again UNTIL they change the material back. BEWARE OF THE NEW TERRIBLE TOKIDOKI BAGS!!! I saved up to get these and now I’m out $300 over bags I will NEVER carry!

I hate to say I told you so ! All the reasons in which I don’t like the new line of bags from Tokidoki ! You would think with the lesser quality the prices would go down ! I am sorry that you are out $ 300.00 ! Ouch ! I take it JapanLA has no return policy ? I won’t buy any of the bags ! And the Spring 2010 bags are more of the same I’m afraid . Except we have pink accets to look forward to ! I just can’t believe the direction that Tokidoki has moved towards !

I know you were defending the bags before S.Bird but thanks for updating your thoughts when you got your bags ! I just think it is sad that the brand that I love has made bags that are not quality ! Maybe you can sell them on E-Bay ? But these new bags are not fetching the same prices as the older ( And better ! ) Tokidoki For LeSportSac bags !

No JapanLA won’t do refunds, but for the record they will exchange new items.

I deal with ebay all the time but I would feel bad passing these bags onto another unsuspecting Toki-lover. I would feel like I was just passing the rip off onto someone else :( I am stuck with them.

I think if you really hate them, them you should exchange them for something you do like. After all, you will be the one using them. This wont affect other customers. I mean, its not like people are dying to buy these prints.

I haven’t bought anything since punk concerto and I bought that at a major discount too. The new stuff just doesn’t excite me anymore, and the clothing keeps getting smaller and smaller it seems to me. hardly anything for the busty women in the men’s line. I guess that this is what happens when artists get more commercial interst. They are forced to put out faster, and more and then the quality drops overall. I hold out hopes for the distant future but for now..i’m not loving anything..

Well said Veronica, on all your comments. The last Tokidoki bags I bought were an Eco and a Concerto Punk. I’ve seen these new bags in the Tokidoki store in NYC but they don’t really call to me as the past prints have. I don’t like the styles or the fabrics. And the missing rainbow zippers are a bummer! I was so excited to hear the wallets were back, but they just don’t look the same without the pretty rainbow zippers :(

Just as I suspected, the new bags are not made by Lesportsac anymore, since Portfortuna, but by another brand that I don’t remember the name. That also explains the change of the bags models. I got confirmation of this when I went to NYC and talked to a guy at EOS (now the store is called Diztrict). They make the watches for Tokidoki. This really bums me out, now for sure they won’t bring the rainbow zippers back, it was probably only a Lesportsac thing. We should all write emails to Tokidoki and ask to have the bags made by Lesportsac again.

marie- tokidoki hasn’t had bags by LeSportsac since the Vacanze print. the early 2009 bags did have rainbow zippers. All these changes are resent, because the 2008 bags at least tried to keep up with the tokidoki scenery spirit even after LeSporsac.

From what I heard, LeSportSac was making the bags with Simone Legno after the official collaboration ended. Simone stated that he was working with the people of LeSportSac to make the newer bags, but he was given more artistic license with the bags since they no longer had the LeSportSac brand printed on them.

I miss the scenery prints as well. I think the closest the newer bags got to to the LeSportSac line was the Carnivale print. It had some really nice vibrant colors. I thought Concerto Punk had a lot of potential, but I think the colors were just too dark for my taste.

  44. That’s what I heard too, Jenn – that they were still LeSportSac even though it didn’t say it anymore.

I guess I’ll just wait till they get to Winners – I think the Pegaso print looks cute, but I am reluctant to spend so much. I was able to get two bags from Winners, one from Browns, and one from Karmaloop, on sale from the previous collection. I bought a Pirata print bag two years ago from Ebay – the most expensive bag I’ve ever bought :S but I love it but I am also scared to use it in case I dirty it :S

Hi! I’m new. I’ve been enjoying reading your posts. My understanding was that of Jenn and smoke_monster. But I am concerned about S.Birds disappointment with the fabric of the new Stellina Nera and Pegaso prints. Is the material different from the previous post-LeSportsac logo bags? eg. Carnival/Celebrazione/Concerto Punk/Eco Mondo?

Thanks for the speedy reply! That’s really good to know. With what patterns did the change take place, please? The last bag I bought was the Matricola in Fantasma, similar to the Immagini but padded, which is awesome. I think am still going to try a Stellina Nera Compagno wallet from JapanLA–at $46, I am willing to risk it. I’ll keep you posted!

  49. Helena – Everything after Mimiteca has the newer material, gold zippers instead of rainbow, and frenzies instead of qees. So if you are happy with your Fantasma bag, the Pegaso bags are the same material. :)
