New tokidoki Bag Print: Watercolor

A new 2010 tokidoki bag print called Watercolor has been released, and is available now at The Giant Peach.  The charm, trim colors and materials are the same as with the other 2010 tokidoki bags so far.  This print also features translucent tokidoki logos and the first bag print with a hand drawn look.

Thanks for the information. I was disappointed that they’re still using the same fabric, no rainbow zippers and the plastic trim. However, the watercolor print is very cute and I so I went ahead and ordered this in the tote.

I like the design of the tote; I just hope the plastic trim where the leather would have been on previous issues looks good in person. While I miss the qee, the charm is quite darling (I have one on a ketai).

I like the watercolor design and translucent logo, very spring-like. I’ll pass on buying or maybe wait to see if ideeli would sell it for x % off. LOL Still not liking the plastic pink trim/strap & canvas fabric. The brightness of it makes it feels out of place..

@Tamale Chica – I like your article “Buy a Used Tokidoki Bag on Ebay?” from your blog, since I didn’t hop on the tokidoki bandwagon until last year. Now I know why the old Le Sportsac collaboration bags are priced the way they are compared to the 2010 ones.

AutumnAme, thanks for the props. I wrote the article because friends new to Tokidoki would ask about buying bags on Ebay, especially either the collaboration bags with LeSportsac or the 2008 prints.

This blog has been a fabulous resource — both one How to Spot Fakes and there’s another very long post that chronicles when each bag print came out and what styles were issued. I’ve used it for quite awhile, mostly lurking until lately. I think it’s because I’m redoing my inventory. :-) . I’ve been buying Stellinas. Because I carry a camera, it kind of pushes my Sorriso’s over the edge in terms of looking like an overstuffed potato.

I forgot which post it was on, but someone posted about how the Tokidoki company should have just created another line or something similar. From a business and marketing strategy perspective, that comment was right on. That’s what most companies do because it’s not good to dilute the value of an existing, high end niche product with a lower priced one. It also creates confusion in the marketplace about what a product stands for.

At least the new prints like the watercolor one are upbeat and fun, and that is something that is part of their brand reputation: fun. I did not like all the plastic trim on the messenger with the last launch. The watercolor tote with the translucent logo may shake out differently. I won’t know till I see it whether it will work for me or not. Sometimes just a little change can make a big difference. :-)

You gals seriously like these? Hummmm, What am I missing….
I don’t care for them at all, There is absolutly nothing appealing about them, Not the style, Shape, design, quality, nothing.
I was looking at the LeSportsac bags in an artical featuring Tokidoki, And I was saddend to see the old wonderful bags and how the “new” ones don’t even come close in comparison…ans seem to be drifting further away.
The “Spirit” of the brand seems to be lost

It’s okay, I guess. Still isn’t what his bags used to be. I miss the colors and chaos of the original prints. Especially the old fabric. Too bad I only bought 5 bags from the old styles, just never thought the styles would completely change. Oh well :( .

I totally agree with Kathy! lol chaos is the perfect word for the original designs. I wish I had a time machine and could go back to get the original print again! This time I’d get a denaro or something without rivets that fall off!

I really like the bright colours on this style. I’ve ordered one of the smaller bags, I hope it arrives soon!

sigh, the watercolor name sounded like a good concept: i was thinking something colorful that covers the whole bag (no white background). this looks something that a young girl would carry with the shiney bright pink trimmings and dollar tree looking rhinestone studded keychain. The drawings on the bag are too simple….nothing extraordinary. however, i think it looks cuter as a smaller bag/wallet but not larger bag. honestly it almost looks like a bag i carried in the 80′s!

    I agree with DKC.
The bad is nice but only at a smaller scale. But I really like this print on a wallet. Maybe I’ll order one soon.

These bags make me sad. :( I miss the old tokidoki bags… these seem kind of ghetto looking to me… not to offend anyone :/ It’s just my opinion. :(

I feel the same way, Sasha. I hate these bags. I still buy the clothing and stuff, but no bags.

when i first saw these tokidoki bags…i though they were really cute..but now…after seeing the old tokidoki bags, these new bags remind me of like harajuku lovers bags.its just a whole bunch of matching characters scattered.i liked the prints where it was like a scene or something.they were easy to recognize and fun to find little characters on. it seems now as…the bags are becoming more and more empty, along with the loss of the rainbow zippers and qee.
and i really dont like the bag styles anymore.they’re either too bug or too small.i mean the wallets now are like hard to see,the logo covers up the whole thing, and it doesnt really matter what pattern placement you get.cause there’s no special scene to have or see.the denaros were one of my favorites..and now they’re like $150 on ebay…i finally see why people are hating the new bags.

Tokidoki bags use to be special and unique, now they are looking like the fake ones Made in China. I use to be able to spot a fake just my the cheap rainbow zipper, now that the new Tokidoki’s arent using the better materials and beefy rainbow zippers its hard to tell the fakes from the real bags so what’s the point in purchasing the expensive real bags when you can’t tell the difference. The quality of the Tokidoki bags have dropped and I don’t think their worth purchasing.
