Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld will soon become the subject of the next tokidoki vinyl toy.

This figure will stand 10″ tall and will be a limited edition of 1,000. According to WWD, the retail price will be $190, and the figures will be distributed via the tokidoki flagship stores and at select specialty stores for holiday retailing. The exclusive launch will take place at Colette next month. Thanks to readers Emi, Alex and Maida for sharing this news!
Play Imaginative will be releasing a new tokidoki x Molly vinyl toy at the Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention (booth J11) August 13 – 16, 2009. The Molly series of vinyl toys are designed by Kenny Wong.

Reader Tati also spotted pictures of Simone Legno at SDCC wearing a tokidoki x Marvel hat on the tokidoki.it blog and did some digging. She then found this ComicBlog forum post with some additional info:

“…the front of the hat had a little Thor, Johnny Storm, and Wolverine ala tokidoki style. I asked [Simone] if this was exclusively for him and his crew or if there was any future plans for this and he said that they will be releasing tokidoki Marvel hats, t-shirts, decks, etc. in 2010.”

And speaking of sales, Trendy Stars has also placed all of their tokidoki toys on clearance for 15%-50% off.

The Giant Peach has a bunch of tokidoki items from past seasons on sale – two pages worth, check pages 2 and 3 when you follow the link. I am extremely tempted by the LP Vinile Watch, Orange but I need to be good until Christmas!
I also noticed that Trendy Stars added a new tokidoki Toys and Plush page to their store and is now also carrying the range of available tokidoki toys too. By stalking their rainboots page I also see that the release date has been pushed back a bit to November, but the wait should be over soon!
Panik’s Toy Box just added the Captain Coco vinyl toy for pre-order. Captain Coco comes packaged with an oversized removable coconut helmet and a pineapple grenade companion.

He is made of PVC vinyl, stands 5 inches tall, and retails for $19.99. The estimated arrival date is October 2008.
Reader Sai just let me know that to celebrate the 25th Anniversery of My Little Pony, Hasbro asked special designers to create their version of the wonderful icon to be auctioned off in NYC. Here is the My Little Pony that Simone Legno designed:

The “MY LITTLE PONY PROJECT: 25 Ponies for 25 Years” program is an international collection of 18″ MY LITTLE PONY figures designed by popular culture’s influential people and organizations. The program was created not only to be a celebration of the whimsical nature of the brand, but also as a way to support Give Kids The World Village, a non-profit that strives to provide magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses.
It’s time for me to play catch-up again! First up is the news that Eco Mondo print tokidoki bags are available for pre-order now at Tobi. The new bags are available for pre-order in these 5 styles:
The bags should arrive at Tobi next week. They just added all 4 of the tokidoki for Onitsuka Tiger toys, too!
As I enter the final stages of post-vacation catching up, I bring you photos and video from the San Diego Comic-Con last month.

And finally… reader Krystal let me know that she was one of the lucky attendees to pull a gold cactus pup (which was Bastardino Jr.) and her prize was getting a full set of the platinum cactus dog characters: Popettina, Bastardino, and the 7 platinum cactus pups (!!!). This is a photo that she sent in of her gold pup:

Coming October 1st to Nordstrom: tokidoki x Chooka rain boots! Thanks to Sailaja for letting me know and to Highsnobette for the photo.
Additional info about the boots from commenter Jen: “The Tokidoki Chooka boots will retail for $120. They will be sold in the US and Canada, in womens and kids sizes, with multiple prints. I believe there are two confirmed prints now, the one shown above and also a punk print with a leopard background.”

Coming in November 2008 – a 4th 2008 tokidoki bag print! Thanks to Amy for forwarding me this tidbit from Wikipedia:
In November 2008, tokidoki will release a new print with a New Year’s Eve celebration theme. The background color of the bags will be a combination of dark blue and lovely sky blue with sections of white. The print will feature all the beloved tokidoki characters ringing in the new year by toasting champagne and dancing (you can catch Bulleto dancing up a storm and Mozzarella having champagne with a banana haired cave-monkey). Brand new characters will also make their debut on the print such as baby new year, a John Travolta-like dancer with a disco ball head, an Adios-like dancer wearing a magician’s hat (where the hat is the magician), two mice dancing with one another, a cute baby blue chick popping out of a skull and a guy sporting a pair of “2009″ glasses. The print is bright, colorful and fun: tokidoki fans definitely have something wonderful to look forward to.
Hypequest has a sneak peek of the NYE print.
Coming in 2009: a new tokidoki character will be released as a vinyl toy! Faith let me know that this character was unveiled at the StrangeCo booth at San Diego Comic Con. He’s a monkey named Captain Coco and the people working the StrangeCo booth said he would be due out in 2009. Here are Faith’s pictures of him:

You can also view a video of Simone in the tokidoki studio talking about how he works and introducing the Captain Coco character on Karmaloop TV (thanks, Joslyn).
More SDCC reports and pictures + video from readers coming soon in one of my next posts!
Panik’s Toy Box just added the tokidoki Tiger toys in white, pink, yellow, and orange for pre-order. The toys are part of the tokidoki for Onitsuka Tiger collaboration, are made of ABS Plastic, and stand 6 inches tall. The estimated ship date is August 2008.

It’s that time of year again – my summertime Infrequent Posting Alert. As you may have already noticed, I am going to be slower than usual with posting and responding to e-mails and comments for the month of July, so please don’t think I am ignoring you if my responses take forever until next month.
Onto some catching up…
